FOOTBALL Football Manager Discussion

Mpenza has retired from international football on 08. Belgiums defence is awesome though, Kompany, Vanden Borre, Van Buyten and Van Damme are awesome. Buffel, Goor and Defour are all very competent midfielders aswell. I'm going for a 4-3-2-1 formation, with Tchite up front as a lone striker.

I'll take Austria! I can't believe they're 85th in the world rankings.

Anyway, I started the game as Chester. I've played my 4 pre season friendlies, beating League One Cheltenham, but then embarrassingly losing against Bishop's Stortford and Airbus. However, luckily I finished pre season with a 2-0 win against AFC Wimbledon. I'm playing a 3 (CB's)-1 (DM)-2 (CM's)-2 (wingers)-2 (Strikers). I've got the start of the season coming up now at home to Stockport.

I made this signing for 3k:

People of PlanetCricket, I need your advice:

I have decided to retire to sunny Marbella on my longest lasting game and I am seeking a new long game. I have narrowed down the teams to start with to three teams now, and I need your opinions on who I should be. (Weegie's database)

ASTON VILLA
FULHAM
LIVERPOOL

Well dunno how I didn't win about 10-3. They had some good chances including a missed penalty at the end, but to go in 0-0 at half-time was a joke! Had millions of chances but just couldn't find the back of the net. 20 shots and about 15 of them in the 1st half. Buffel got me the 3 goals bringing him on at the half. I can now see why Belgium are 55th in the World Rankings

Nah, newest departure is Mr. Simon Barrow. I mean, who'd thought a 4-0 thrashing by Arsenal would be the final nail?

I think i'm going to start with Cardiff or Barca now, or Chelsea, not sure!

I love Football Manager! First game of the season, at home to Stockport, a bore 0-0 draw. Then 1st round of the league cup at home to Stoke, lost 3-0 thanks to 3 first half goals. Then just now, Dagenham and Redbridge at home. They went one nil up, I equalised, then on 60 mins they went 2-1 up. I piled on the pressure but was struggling to get the equaliser until the 93rd minute when Tony Grant smashed a free kick into the top corner from just outside the area!:D:D

Guess who just got sacked.
:o Who were you as and how far where you in when you got the flick?

Iam controlling United, just started, let Eagles go on Loan to Sunderland so he can get some first team experience hopefully.

Oh and Lee, your team, Norwich has offered to loan Phillp Bardsley;)

EDIT: Will any of the graphics used in FM07 work with the new FM? I downloaded a 70 meg pack for FM07 that I used for ages and had all the logos and kits - will it work for 08?

Well seems like it'll be me and jaz trying out the challenge then. Belgium vs Cyprus :D I got 4 points from that first game (qualifiying win = +2, hattrick = +1, win by 3 goals or more = +1)

Drew my first game as Derby 1-1. Birmingham's goal was offside aswell so really i won. Bought Eddie Johnson in for £2.2million and also got Mathieu Flamini on loan. The squad actually looks fairly decent, trying to buy Tabb aswell, from Coventry. Wouldnt mind McFadden aswell, but Kenny Miller'll do for now. Next game is against Wigan away, hoping for a point.

Liverpool would be too easy. If you want a challenge go for Fulham, they are the weakest of the 3 and it would probably take longer to turn them into a top team. However, if you want to take a team of youths and turn them into the next Manure, go for Villa, along with Tottenham and Arsenal, they have the most exciting youth players in the PL.
