Eboue's not the best defender anyway, i'd sell him for as much as you can get for him. He was **** hot on FM 06 but was nothing special on this one or 07. I'd keep hold of Clichy, unless you can get Marcelo from Real Madrid, he seems to have a fairly low buy out clause, and is probably the best young left back on the game, bar Evra. Diaby is definetly good enough for the first team in the EPL. He kept Gattuso out of the team on my AC save, he seems to score quite a few goals from centre midfield. If you're looking for a replacement for Eboue, but cant get Alves, try someone like Micah Richards, Matteo Cassani, Zaccardo or even Alan Hutton from Rangers. Hope the reccomendations help.

Clichy has been amazing for me, thats the only problem. He did get a bit fooked off when I turned down a bid from AC for him, but his game has not dropped one bit, and he's even been called up to the French team. I'll take a look at some of those suggestions. I like the look of Marcelo, however I'm looking to build up a mainly English squad and replicate the current Spurs team and buy the best young English youth, so Richards would be a good option. How does Giles Barnes turn out? If Derby go down ill be after him, but they are resiliant at the moment with them fighting for survival.

He's done nothing on my game, now in 2010. His stats still arent great, he's alright, be a good squad player for a mid-table EPL team but he is nothing special. Also, you tend to pay over the odds for young British players, i mean you could replace Clichy with Gareth Bale, but it would cost ya quite abit. Meh to the british players, cheap foreigners is where it's at :P

You've made me start as Arsenal now Briggsey :p. I've started by making bids and offering contracts to the following players:
- Ever Banega
- Allesandro Rosina
- Mikel Arteta
- Eddie Johnson
- Marcelo

I think those 5 guys will allow me to fill the places in the team that need filling, with the younger players providing back-up to the big stars. When all those 5 sign, my first XI will look like this:
---------------Lehmann/Almunia----------------
----Sagna-----Gallas--------Toure-----Marcelo/Clichy------

-----------Arteta------Banega/Diaby---------------------

----Rosina----------Fabregas---------------RVP-----------
------------Eduardo/Adebayor/Johnson--------------------

Hopefully the formation will pay off, it allows Fabregas to have a forward role and so he can play the role that he does IRL. I get wing play from Sagna and Rosina down the right and Marcelo and Van Persie on the left, but with the defensive support of Arteta and Benega. It works a treat in Italy as Milan, lets hope, for my sake, that it works in the premier league. If not, i'll have to move Rosina to left mid, arteta to right, stick Van Persie up front with Eduardo and have Fabregas and Banega in centre mid.

I bought Eddie Johnson, lethally fast but no end product! Fans hated him so I shipped him out to Osasuna on loan for the season. He has potential but his passing and finishing was below par for a top PL side. I tried bagging Arteta from Everton wen Rosicky went, but Everton wouldnt have any of it, how much did you pay?

Dont you just love it when a former hero returns to the club who once worshiped him and repays them by destroying them :)

Briggs, i paid ?19million for Arteta. Played really well so far, i've played 4 friendlies without conceding a goal. Fabregas has scored 3 from AMC. Results so far are 3-0, 3-0, 3-0, 2-0. Cesc scored in all 3 3-0 wins. He is fantastic at AMC. I have a pretty deadly team so far. Still waiting for Rosina, and Johnson to join. Ever Banega has had a good solid start aswell. Very good replacement for Gilberto who's being sold for ?7million. Arsenal are great on FM.

Id play Fab at AMC if I didnt have Riquelme.

Ive decided to sell Gallas at the end of my season, 2 players (1 of whom is Riquelme, the main man of my team!!) dont like him and are unsettled as a result, so he has to go, dont care if he is the captain. So I will be in the market for a DC! Arsenal have Senderos and Djouru in waiting, but Senderos is too error prone on FM for my liking despite being quite solid at times. Djouru I havent given much chance but he looks promising. Should I give him a chance or look externally? Suggestions?

Djouru is amazing. You just need to buy another kid to groom as back-up. Just promote Djouru.

My Ipswich team... ignore the league position :p

the dutch guys in AMC were both free, they are both youngsters regarded as "definite purchase"s

1 man midfield! no wonder your 18th :p

I found when I played a 4-3-1-2 with Arsenal and didnt employ any wingers, teams found it quite easy to counter attack and break me down, thus why my start to the season was a disaster. When I switched to 4-4-1-1 and had wingers, thats when they began to play like the RL Arsenal and begun taking teams to pieces. Just a suggestion but maybe try deploying wingers in your next game and see how you fair?

Oh and where is Danny Haynes! You need him in your first team!

1-man midfield has worked... just the strikers cant score

danny is on a 6 month non-recall loan to *sorry everyone* leeds :( and he is doing really well, 10 goals in 6

the quicker i get him back the better lol

I'm sorry, but that formation is ghastly. No wingers, no midfield, the wingbacks are compeltely exposed, your play will be completely 1 dimensional. Lee and Counago feed on balls into the box, which they aren't going to get from no wingers, i seriously cant see your strikers scoring many with that formation. I'd make changes before you're sacked tbh. Use a real formation :P

Are you guys with FM2008 experiencing any bugs? I've heard some horror stories about this version and I'm holding off buying it at the moment until I see some patches.

No major bugs, its all working fine for me, im 3 days and 23 hours into the game ;)
