I've succesfully guided my beloved Newcastle United to 3rd spot in the Premiership after my 1st year in charge. I've spent my ?12,000,000 budget wisely, buying realistic targets with good reputations. My main target was a striker so I immediatley had a look at Darius Vassel. More pace up front with Martins and Owen, (who now is extremely unhappy at the club and wants to move, but I'll get onto that later), I thought could not go wrong. Unfortunately though, due to my inexperience at the top level, Vassel did not want to move to St. James'. I was stuck for ideas after being rudely turned down by Fiorentina's central defender Ujfalusi. Luckily, Shawn Wright Philips was told he could move clubs by Mourinho so I, as well as many other top flight clubs, moved in. After bidding an initial ?8,000,000 for SWP and being turned down immediatley, Aston Villa moved in for N'zogbia bidding ?5,000,000. It was a hard choice to make but in the end it came down to SWP being far more consistent than N'zogbia over the course of the season, rather than a few meaningless friendlies. With the ?5,000,000 for N'zogbia, I bumped the SWP bid up to ?14,000,000 after Man City had bid ?13,000,000. The bid was accepted and after SWP accepted the contract, he was a Toon. Even with the services of SWP, the right side of my midfield still had no strength in depth. I initially thought big. David Beckham perhaps? I put a season long loan offer up for te ex-Galactico and to my surprise, it was accepted. I made sure the signing on fees were flattering and then all I could do was wait. LA Galaxy stalled the offer which made me think I wasn't going to get my man but after a week of boring friendlies vs Cork City and the such, Beckham accepted the loan offer with the option to buy at the end of the period.
