Story FTP: A Team Diary

I've decided to use a different format as that takes too long since I have to play 3 games a week.

Naeem and Tindall bowl well to secure a huge win

Hedger's Team has pulled off a big victory against Tigers on the ran away from home. It was always going to be an easy win and they proved that with a 323 run victory.

Lineups:

Hedger's Team
1. Jake Miller
2. James Fiebig
3. Stephen Byrne
4. Jack Lane
5. Rene Butler
6. Dion Tribe +
7. David Dumaresq *
8. Gilbert Black
9. Farrukh Naeem
10. Fred Tindall
11. Keith Pinch

Tigers on the ran
1. Rajam Verma
2. Chandrakant Shashank
3. Aviksipa Sruti
4. Kuppuswamy Sreenivas
5. Arsa Kulasekaran *
6. Kusumoda Pavi
7. Bisvajita Chetlapalli
8. Jaswant Viswanath
9. Grama Nadhamuni
10. Asvatthanarayana Malik +
11. Janacandra Jinen

Dumaresq won the toss and elected to bat on a very flat pitch, a batsman's paradise. Miller and Byrne failed to pass 20 but Fiebig hit a nice openers knock of 83 while Lane made a quickly made 76. It was Butler's 97* off 64 though that put his team in a good position. Dumaresq also played a captains knock down at 7 making 46* off 23 balls. The team finished with a score of 386, seeming a long way out of the oppositions reach.

Dumaresq couldn't find a wicket in 5 over's while Butler got 2. Verma was looking good before becoming Blacks second victim in the 7th over and Blacks 4th. It was a good bowling performance from Naeem and Tindall taking 7/18 combined with Naeem taking 4/11 and Tindall with 3/7. A superb all round performance by Hedger's Team and fully deserved that victory.

Hedger's Team make Record Transfer

Hedger's Team have signed Netherlands 20 year old medium pace bowler, Bob Kwistel for a record Hedger's Team transfer of $297,797 beating the previous record transfer of $200,000 for James Fiebig. He will probably play in an upcoming friendly against The New Ball. Bob has played 21 Youth matches with 31 wickets @ 17.29 but has yet to adapt to the Senior form of the game in his 18 senior matches.

Half Week Summary:

It was the Twenty20 match against Chandidar that started the week for them and nothing was better than a big victory as Byrne's unbeaten 140 guided the team to a 203 run victory. Ernest Clay also hit 103* as Hedger's Team made 246/0 in their 20 over's. Kwistel made his debut by taking 2/10 from 4 over's. All the other bowlers chipped in with a wicket or 2 as well, the captain Dumaresq taking 1/8 from 2 over's, Tindall taking 2/14 from 2 and Gilbert Black took 2/5 as well. Naeem and Fiebig also took a wicket each as Chandidar fell to 43 all out. Ellis also was dismissed first ball, unlucky for the allrounder.

It was a harder match the next game with the youth team taking on top of the table, BanglaCricketRifat. The opposition won the toss and sent Hedger's Team into bat. It was a slow 40 over's with Hedger's Team finishing their innings on 181/7, Hele top scoring with 70 off 89 balls and other than Chinamasa's 44 and Hele's 70, no one passed 20. A wicket in the first over from Huntley Preen made them think again, Thimanniya bowled out for 1. Shaukut was run out in the fifth over and Preen struck again in the sixth as BanglaCricketRifat went to 29/3 from 7 over's. Sherman got to 19 before being dismissed by Chinamasa. Patenkar and Gajendra played out the innings though to take BanglaCricketRifat to a 6 wicket win with 3.4 over's to spare. Hele was poor with the ball not troubling the batsman with 0/44 from 8 over's. Ellis also bowled badly to end a bad game for him. He is trying too hard, I think trying to master that doosra of his which we only saw once in the game but was hit for 4. A six wicket win in the end for BanglaCricketRifat to keep them on top of the ladder.

Managers Comments:
It was a good win first up for the senior side in the Twenty twenty. I have been very impressed by Stephen Byrne's performance since joining the club scoring his fourth Twenty20 century. Well done to him. A big win pleases me and the side pleased me with their performance, everyone playing their role. I knew we were the underdogs for the Youth match but that didn't stop me from believing we could win and the side put in their best and I'm happy with most of the team's performances. I thought we stood a chance when they were 3 wickets down but we couldn't find more wickets. With Donald Ellis, it was just a bad game. I think he should focus on his batting and to bowl a few over's when needed and not to think he needs to take wickets and he should learn on being consistent. He is a player with potential with both bat and ball and needs to play at his best to achieve that.

Oldroyd Set For Senior Debut

19 year old Murray Oldroyd is set for senior debut in tomorrows against second place team, flooding. Oldroyd, the Youth team keeper and captain has been the teams top run scorer with 397 runs @ 79.40 in 9 matches but has only scored 1 century. Although he has had a very good season with the bat, he has only taken 10 catches and a stumping behind the stumps so far this season. He has been good only conceding 14 byes in the past 5 matches. He is heard to be replacing the 32 year old Dion Tribe who has been able to score runs down the order while leading the OD catches. He has been the Twenty20 keeper of the year leading in both catches and stumpings with 4 stumpings and 15 catches. Murray Oldroyd will need to play well most likely to also be the number 6 batsman. A good performance here could see him replace current keeper, Tribe in the upcoming seasons. If he plays, he will be the second ever youth player from Hedger's Team to play for the senior behind current senior finger spinner, Fred Tindall who played a fair few matches in both T20 and OD while still only 19 years of age.

Fiebig, The Star As Hedger's Team Pulls Off Huge Victory

21 year old allrounder, James Fiebig was the star player of the match earning man of the match in his teams 303 run victory. Hedger's Team won the toss and elected to bat and Miller and Fiebig put on an 118 run opening stand before Miller went for 54. It was the big partnership between Byrne and Fiebig however that put the team in a top position, Byrne going 9 short of his century off 69 balls. Fiebig went 2 over's later for a well made 141, with only 7 boundaries. Despite the low amount of boundaries, he scored his 141 in 111 balls. Butler and Lane also scored some runs in quick time. Oldroyd, the debutant was unfortunately run out for 17 off 9 deliveries. They finished with a total of 404/5, Vedavyasa the best of flooding's bowlers with figures of 2/84.

With a hard chase for flooding, they fell apart going all out for 101, Brown top scoring with 33. Recent signing, Kwistel was pick of the bowlers with 4/18 from 10 over's. All other bowlers chipped in with a wicket each. Oldroyd was comfortable behind the stumps, taking 3 catches and only conceding 3 byes in 30 over's. A 303 run victory takes Hedger's Team closer to winning the league.

One Day Friendly:

Deccan Chargers vs Hedger's Team

Hedger's Team Lineup:
1. Jake Miller
2. James Fiebig
3. Stephen Byrne
4. Jack Lane
5. Rene Butler
6. Dion Tribe +
7. Gavin Hele
8. Gilbert Black
9. Farrukh Naeem
10. Fred Tindall *
11. Bob Kwistel

It was a pitch for batting being so flat and Tindall was given captaincy for the resting Dumaresq and had no hesitation in batting first. The top 4 batsman made starts, Fiebig and Lane making half centuries but it was Rene Butlers 69* and the match winner, Dion Tribe's 77* off 42 deliveries that gave them a total just over 300 which was decent against a team in Div. 3 for T20 and top of Div. 4 for OD. Naeem got the first wicket in his first over which was the end of the 11th. There were a few run outs but wickets from Black (2/72 off 10), Naeem (4/69 off 10) and Tindall (2/49 off 10) that just managed to get them home by 3 runs. Hele playing in the senior side for the first time even if it wasn't competitive did not bat and was pretty expensive with the ball taking 0/34 off 5 over's which wasn't really too expensive comparing it with the other players of the team. Hele has scored over 1000 Youth runs @ 57.39 and has taken 33 wickets @ 32.33 is coming towards his 20th birthday and could well gain a spot in the senior side by then.

Let's see what happens, but Best of Luck to you...

Will be good match and summary here.. :banana2

I've challenged you to a friendly for the 20th Sep. if you want to accept. If the game is close and exciting, we could organise a series, 3 or 5 matches.
