Story -- Full County Season -- Lancashire CCC -- [C2005] --

To be honest, the screens of C2K5 are painful to see. BLIC's aren't that good either, but at least they are easy on the eyes. Might be better when you are playing though...

No Balls Continue as Lancashire Pick Up More Wickets!

-----------------------

The no-ball problem that is plauging Lancashires bowling attack has continued in much the same way as we reach tea on day 1 of this Frizzel County Championship Division 2 match. Another 48 runs have been added in extras making almost a hundred overall, this could prove very, very costly for Lancashire in the long term as it puts unnescesary pressure on the batsmen to put extra runs on the board. James Anderson and Dominic Cork have been the main culprits, Anderson is yet to take a wicket but Cork has taken the prize scalp of Marcus Trescothick.

Trescothick looks on in disbelief after whitnessing his half century ball plucked out of the air by Mal Loye

Once again a bowling change works wonders and the main threat is removed, Dominic Cork had bowled an immaculate line and length in the first few balls of his second spell, he then tried a bouncer which went wrong, short and wide, the ball got the treatment as it went sailing over Mal Loye at gully, or so everyone thought, everyone expect Loye that is, he leapt to take a paul collingwood-esque catch, the ball just stuck, Trescothick just about had his bat up to celebrate when the fielders around him cried out, he looked shelshocked as he was forced to leave on 48, an anti-climax to an otherwise flawless innings.

The Celebrations continure as Hogg picks up his second wicket

Lancashire were all fired up after that big wicket and had their tails up, the next wicket didnt take long to come, just 15 runs later and Burns was on his way back to the pavillion. Youngster Kyle Hogg colected his second wicket of the day as he stuck to a great plan by the captain. Burns tried getting after him, smashing him for a four and a two from the first two balls in his comeback over, sensing this the young prospect had a word with his captain and seemingly unbeknownst to the batsman a fielder was sent to the previously vacant space at deep point. A bouncer was bowled which cramped Burns up, he tried for the big six but didnt connect at all well and only suceeded in picking out Hodge who took a dolly striht down his throat.

So as we start the evening session here the match is evenly balanced with Somerset claiming a decent amount of runs, thanks in part to the Lancashire bowlers, and Lancashire getting rid of the two dangermen for only 57 runs. With two new batsmen at the crease the seam attack should continue for anoher 10 over just to see if they can grab another wicket, then its down to the mainstream spin of Murali Muralitharan and Brad Hodge to exploit the rough patches which are fast appearing on this Old Trafford pitch.

Are the batsmen leaving alot? Or are just bowling immaculate lines?

Yes i believe the pitch does wear out, i can just about see some dark rough patches appearing, we will just have to wait and see. And in answer to sureshots question its a bit of both, the lines ive been bowling havent allowed them much room but the bad balls havent been put away, the one that was attached was caught by Loye and it resulted in a wicket.

Thanks for all the comments guys, ill get started on the Evening Session now.

i'd just like to say this thread is superb and harmison if you don't mind i might start my own one here with essex.

however don't know how to do pictures so i would just do scores. anyway how do you save on cricket 2005. do you have to wait to lunch, and tea before you can save. and what's going on in the evening session

i tried to save between overs but the option save doesn't come up. i've started my own save file so it should work. however maybe save file isn't working and i'am doing something wrong
