Lancashire Vs Somerset

I Blackwell: 12*
R Turner: 21*
Lancashire find thier rhythm and Anderson strikes!
-----------------------
James Anderson opened his account for the season with a fine wicket as he came back for his third spell of the match after Brad Hodge removed Francis earlier in the session. Murali and Hodge have been whittling down the overs for very few runs as the batsmen have become increasingly frustrated, they have no other outlet of runs either as the no-balls have been decreased, only 14 no-balls and 4 wides were bowled in the last part of the day which is a big improvement, unfortuantely because of the abismall efforts to stop the no-balls earlier, instead of being 109/5, Somerset are 238/5.
Francis top edges one trying to sweep Brad Hodge
Murali has been drying up the runs from one end of the pitch whilst at the other Brad Hodge has done a great job to keep his economy rate down as he was targetted by the batsmen, he found a perfect length that was to short to sweep but not full enough to drive, the batsmen really struggled to pick the length and when Francis had had enough of holding back he hit out. He attempted to sweep a delivery that was quite wide and the extra pace on the ball meant that he didnt get through the motion, the ball went straight up and after a big call from Stuart Law its was safely taken.
James Anderson looks ecstatic after finally getting a wicket
Mal Loye takes another wonderfull catch a gully to dismiss Parsons off the bowling of Anderson
Parsons, the new man in, hammered his first ball for four, then only made two runs is 34 balls, things were slwoing down dramatically for Somerset when James Anderson was brought back into the attack along with Andrew Flintoff. Anderson bowled a maiden his first over back and the three balls into his second over he induced the edge from Blackwell, with only one slip in place the man got his hands to it enough to stop the ball but couldnt hang onto it, Blackwell scampered through for a single and lived to foght another day, however, Parsons thick edged the very next ball wide of gully, once again Mal Loye was on hand to take an outstanding catch to dismiss the new man for 6.
Turner cuts one away
Flintoff is hammered away by Turner
Sinse then Blackwell has added another two runs to his total and the new man in, Turner, has flourished, hitting 21 in good form, it looks like Somerst have finally decided enough is enough. Day 2 promises to be exciting as Somersets innings ends and Lancashire come out to bat, expect fireworks. The bowlers footmarks have really made an impact now and you will see in tomorrows coverage that the dark marks are quite prominent. This could make batting tough, especially against the spinners.
