Generation Draft - COMPLETED!!

Sorry once again mate, I've picked him in the previous page. :D

my two picks are Neil Harvey and Billy Barnes... Writeup later...

I don't think Harvey belongs in this round. If he did I would have thought hard about picking him. Harvey only played 11 Tests by 1950, the other 68 were afterwards... So he's definitely a '51-'70 player - start thinking about someone else Pixel :D Papa to have the final say of course.

And come on Swacker mate, pull yourself together. You mean you can't find one of the truly awesome players of the 19th century?? :p Like the Maurice Tate pick a lot though, he was one I was hoping that would be overlooked :thumbs

So I thought I'd make some helpful lists for everyone to use when researching, the most runs and wickets for each time period from statguru:
Most Runs 1877-1899
Most Wickets 1877-1899
Most Runs 1900-1927
Most Wickets 1900-1927
Most Runs 1928-1950
Most Wickets 1928-1950
Most Runs 1951-1970
Most Wickets 1951-1970
Most Runs 1971-1990
Most Wickets 1971-1990

Useful links there, Jason. Surprised my pick, Joe Darling is, up there. I picked him mostly because I needed a decent opener and skipper.

AP - you need to change the Harvey pick. And Swacker, you need to make new picks. I know sometimes you don't have time to trawl through the thread, fair enough, but you can always check out the first post. It has the list of all the players selected so far, and links to their write-ups.

Also guys, I'm going to be extremely busy this weekend. I'll try to meet the windows of my picks, but I won't have time for the write-ups. Because of this, can I ask you to edit the first post to keep it up-to-date, Jason? It's only for a few days.

Okay sorry about that... Here are my picks again. Bobby Barnes and Eddie Paynter. How the hell i missed him in my first research

----------

I will have Joey Palmer then. :)

Ctrl + F Swacker :p Use it on the first page.

No worries Papa, I'll update it whenever I'm here.

Oh and Eddie Paynter seems to crop up in these drafts - the Brad Hodge of his generation :p. I remember reading about him for a previous draft. Sounded like a talented guy from memory, he just played in an era where there was too much competition for spots and he was always seen as the 7th best batsmen in England - just like Hodge was in the early-mid 2000s for Australia or maybe Darren Lehmann 10 years earlier. But Paynter obviously did well in the matches where he filled in, cause his average is high.

And go ahead with your picks War, Swacker's had more than enough time to find someone to replace his original choice.

well, again, he is way more a 1900 player. 11 tests prior to 1899 and 38 after, I don't know though.

Indeed - you'll have to find someone else Swacker. Pick Hill next round :yes
War you'll need to change Cotter as well, he didn't even play at all before 1900.

If you need ideas, check the links I made a few posts earlier and find some players that jump out. Just make sure they played most of their cricket before 1900 for goodness sake :p And that they played 10 Tests...I don't think you'll find any superstars, but there's probably some guys that will fill any holes you are finding hard to fill.

In the mean time, go for it Aditya :thumbs

I never realised Hazare played so early, he's bit of a half and half one, but due to the war a couple of players are like that coming in to test cricket in the mid 40s with only 10 years or so left in their career. I'm not disputing him at all by the way, good pick.

Jack Hearne it is then.

I'm shocked he hasn't been picked yet, he has 3061 first class wickets to his name.
