Story Go Tigers Go - A Bangladesh Story! | ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

Its one of those scores where you reckon both sides feel they can do it. I fancy the Lankan bowling to do it, but the Bangladeshis should focus on getting to 200 and then look at the total. Interesting game and the graphics are mind blowing.

My Prediction: Shakib Hasan

Bangladesh Vs. Srilanka
ODI Match @ Sher-E-Bangla Stadium,Mirpur.

A Solid Start!

The Srilankan players, the umpires and the two Bangladeshi batsmen made their way to the centre. The two openers were greeted with huge roar by the Bangla supporters, especially Tamim Iqbal.Crowd knew if this man gets going he can set this game on fire.Srilankan players too knew that and might have some strategies up their sleeves against him.Imrul Kayes,a new face was Tamim's partner.Another talented player. With all things set,The Chase Begun....

Srilankan captain Sangakkara opened the bowling with Welegedara,a good left-arm seamer. He started with a wide delivery down the leg-side which could have cost some more runs had the Skipper not stopped it by showing some great reflexes.Kayes was pretty watchful while Tamim started to open-up.But,he couldn't get his timing right early on.There were quite a few play and miss incidents as both the opening bowlers Welegedara and Kulasekara bowled in tight channels and were moving the ball quite well.

The start for the Bangladeshis was very slow as they were just 9 runs off the first 4 overs. Both the batsmen were struggling to find any sort of timing and bowlers were on top right from the word go.The crowd still was cheering for Tamim Iqbal and hoping he could get something going.'Right then',says Tamim Iqbal as he smashes Welegedara for 14 runs off the 5th over.He hit three marvellous boundaries in that over, breaking the shackles and set the stadium on fire. With every four, the volume of the crowd increased and they were right behind their 'tiger'.He lofted one over the in-field while just punched one off the back-foot.A banner came up from the Bangla supporter saying 'Beware Lankans, the Tiger is on a hunt'.

Tigers under Pressure!

Tamim Iqbal looked pretty comfortable at the crease as he was timing the ball perfectly.Imrul Kayes on the other hand looked shaky right from the start.Tamim continued his aggressive play and hit a couple of boundaries.Kayes too played some good shots then and eventually could get one cross the boundary-rope.Lankans needed to break this opening stand as the duo had already added 40 runs for the first wicket. But,Tamim seemed to make no mistakes while Kayes was as if he will bat right through. So from where would the wickets come?

Just when it seemed to go all right for the Bangla boys,a 'disaster' occurred.Tamim Iqbal was seen heading towards the pavillion for 28 off 25 balls. You wanna know the reason for it?Ah,what could be more frustrating than a run out!Wrong call by Kayes cost Tamim's 'precious' wicket. The Bangla supporters were stunned. It was a disppointing end to what could have been a good innings.Mohd. Ashraful joined Imrul Kayes at the crease.Kayes couldn't get the ball to past the inner-circle.He was struggling. The pressure got to him as he tried to loft one over the in-field.He was deceived by Kulasekara and ended up giving a simple catch to Samaraweera.I'm sure Kayes didn't receive the warmest of the welcomes when he was out on 11 off 30 deliveries and had just run-out Tamim Iqbal.Raqibul Hasan was the next batsman for Bangladesh and they were 50 for 2 at that stage.

Imrul Kayes was surely out but he seemed to have left behind himself in Ashraful as the ex-captain couldn't get his feet moving at all.He was even slower than Kayes to start off his innings. No footwork at all plus a selection of few rash shots made him look even more worse at the crease. There were several appeals against him for Leg-before Wicket but all were turned down by the Umpire. He was living dangerously in the middle. One of the LBW decisions off the bowling of Welegedara which went against the Lankans -

Ashraful had the luck factor with him.Raqibul Hasan played some good shots and rotated the strike well.He got some quick runs at the start off his innings which helped Ashraful calm down. They both knew now it was the time to steady the ship.Ashraful also hit a few off the middle and was starting to look good.He smashed one right out of the ground off Kulasekara and that helped him grow in confidence. That was what the spectators waiting for,and Ashraful played smoothly now.He sent a couple of good balls to the boundary and kept on picking up singles and doubles.Raqibul Hasan coudn't get much of the strike as Ashraful was the man doing the damage. The rebuild job was going on by the two batsmen, but still Bangladesh are under some pressure as they need 182 more runs to win off 30 overs @ 6.07 rpo.
