Group A (Australia, India, Pakistan, WI)

I think India and Australia have better chance of advancing, let me tell you why. Two men, if in good form, always ensure an Indian victory; Sachin and Yuvi. Good for India that both of them are in excellent form. I can't remember an occassion where these two fired and India still lost, not atleast recently. Bowling is pathetic(and I am being lenient here), fielding, well, I have seen 60 yrs olds run to catch buses faster in my locality than indian fielders on the outfield. I just hope Ishant strikes some form here, and they become prudent enough to play Parveen. Australia, they are like wounded tigers now, done with licking their ashes wounds and raring to go. Ricky is in blistering form, Ferguson looks promising in the middle order, no Symonds though and Lee is Leethal again, they are looking a great one day outfit. One bloke we don't talk about often in Peter Siddle, that man has lot of heart and passion for his game, gives it everything when he bowls, a rare quality in bowlers these days. For Pakistan, I would say Umar Gul(exceptionally talented) and Afridi, if he fires, like he does once in a blue moon. Lets see how the tournament unfolds. :p:p:p

No one is disturbing me on the 26th. Thank god it's a Saturday! I can finally watch an ODI, that too an India - Pakistan game, after a long long time.

I am getting up early that day and will make sure I dont get out of my room at all. Its me and the match. Still remember memories of that 2003 WC game in Centurion. When Pakistan scored 270+, I was praying like hell wanting India and Sachin to fire. And how good it came true! Hoping for the same kind of atmosphere as that game.

God listens to Indians before Pakistanis ;).

I'm tipping Pakistan and Australia to go through. I just get too nervous watching our bowling attack for me to confidently say we will go through even when we ideally should.

I think we will get through to the semis most probably. Our fast bowlers should get much better help than what they got in SL. We do well when we have juice in the wicket. If we dont, we are downright pathetic. Even when it has juice, we are not too threatening but we keep things down and let the batsmen win it for us. So I am confident that our bowling shouldnt hamper our prospects too much especially in SA. For example, Ishant and RP's short pitched bowling in SL bled lot of runs. But in SA, hitting that length and pitching short will demand more respect.

Indian selectors have done a good job by bringing Dravid back as the pitches this time will have a lot more bounce and Rohit Sharma would struggle to even get off the mark.

I feel Pakistan and Australia will go through. I do`nt see our bowling winning us games in this tournament. If you look at all the big events where we`ve done well, its been our bowling which has come to the party. We had an in form pace attack in the 2003 WC and the 2007 T20 WC in SA. I don`t see one this time.

Puts way too much emphasis on our batsmen to score big runs.

I think everyone is being a tad harsh on our bowlers. We all saw what our bowlers did last time they were in SA, even though it was T20, our bowlers still looked promising and threatening. Especially RP Singh. We'll just have to hope that ourbowling clicks like it did in 2003 and 200.

Quite true. I think the Indian bowlers will manage themselves. Though they might not be the best attack, they are not the worst out there (well not even close to that). Dhoni did the right thing by playing Ishant, RP and Nehra in all games in SL because these three will be the guys to play the majority games in this tournament and so they needed match practice. Plus Dhoni has also openly talked about the bowlers needing to pull their socks up. That should fuel these guys and make them determined. And as I again and again say (I wont get bored of it), we are playing in SA where fast bowlers naturally get more help even on batting wickets (compared to the batting wickets in the sub continent).

I would like Praveen to play because of the fact that we are playing a lot of night games and we all know how much it swings under lights in SA. Praveen can be deadly when it swings. Looking at the teams in our pool, I`d be tempted to play the leg-spinner Amit Mishra. Pakistan traditionally have done well against Bhajji and they are known to struggle against leg spin/left arm spin. But I don`t see that happening. It would be a tough call but we might have to drop Nehra for Praveen.

Mark my words, Nehra will get hammered if he plays against Pakistan. Don`t know why but somehow I don`t feel good about our chances in this Champions Trophy.

Pakistan need to get rid of these two and they have won the match.
Watch Afridi's batting stats. He does not do anything in lost games.

You compare Afridi' best stats with Dhoni and Yuvraj's worst stats and Dhoni-Yuvraj will still win.

I just wanted to prove that these guys are essential in India Pakistan games. MoYo back will be advantage for us, He will score like Dravid pace.

I don't think MoYo will play against India. He might be sidelined cause he failed in the warm up game and there's been a lot of questions on his fielding inabilities.
