Group E: England, WI, SA, India

I thought that overall the IPL fields were a lot smaller then the grounds in England, I didn't see any grounds that required a 85M hit to get to the boundry. Some parts of the grounds will be small, but overall I feel that these grounds are larger.
As far as I've noticed, thus far, an 85m hit has been well into the stands, or second tier even, thus far. Also, I think I've seen more balls leave the stadium this tournament than I did throughout the entire 2007 event!

I dont like Indias chances. We will do well to beat Poms. We can beat saffers but Poms and Windies will be different game altogether.

I say England and RSA to advance from here.

First match in this group is England vs South Africa. And it's already happening two days from now.

I'm less optimistic about England's chances.

We need to really push South Africa and really beat them. They proved tonight what their bowling attack can do with a mediocre score so we'll need to bat well.

If we can get off to a good start with Wright and Bopara, it will hopefully set the platform for the others to come in since we don't have the longest batting line-up if we play five bowlers.

Interesting to see what bowling attack we go in with. Four seamers or the two spinners? Rashid will probably still be included since England do owe him a chance after being carried around the Caribbean in the winter.

Nope, it is still as follows:

India: A1
England: B2
West Indies: C1
South Africa: D2
He obviously means their actual position in the actual points table, where A1 refers to the person topping Group A. Basically the top four teams of each group (if West Indies beat Sri Lanka today) will be in one group, which is a pretty telling comment on the poor structuring of the Super 8's.

You should be kidding. (Not based on upsets), India and South Africa should easily make it to the semifinals. Many of England's fans have almost no hope on their team (esp. here in PC!:p). With no Flintoff, they dont look threatening to India. West Indies play around Gayle. They are like the India of the 90's where we relied almost totally on Tendulkar. You take out Gayle and West Indies can be dismantled. South Africa is HUGE competition. But we can beat them with the firepower we have. I feel our strength is that we have players who put together, can beat any team.

If India doesnt qualify for the semifinals, IT WOULD BE THE UPSET!

The West Indies batsmen have got off to a good start today without Gayle ;)

From my Un-biased position South Africa are the best all-round team, there bowling is top notch. Which is something I can’t say about the Indian bowling attack, there seamers don’t fill me with too much confidence. Also South Africa’s batting line-up is a lot better then India’s, well maybe not that much better but they’re better organised. I wouldn’t bet my house on India getting through to the semis just yet, because I could quite easy see Gayle and Fletcher doing a number on the Indian bowlers.

My top four teams at the moment are:

South Africa
Sri Lanka
India
New Zealand/Pakistan

Jayasuriya and Isura Udana are hardly the most threatening opening bowlers. :p Isura bowled 4 wides in his first or second over and relies too much on his slower ball!

That said, there are definitely threats down the order with the likes of Bravo and Sarwan. The others don't have the ability to hang around for too long--they tend to overattack (Simmons, Marshall and Fletcher for example). Which means if we bat first and put a low total up they could be dangerous.

- Saffers cant play spin so we can beat them.
- England should not be taken lightly. Having played against India recently they know our weakness and will be playing on home turf.
- WI is like Pakistan. Dont know which Gayle will turn up.

Ah, that's why people love to watch India get beaten.

Referring to Saisrini btw.

If Edwards gets his act together WI bowling looks decent enough. Add Gayle to the batting and they have experience and firepower to challenge any team. England has the players to cause an upset.

Now the real game has begun, all good tough teams will now play against each other..Ind and SA look fav,but notinh much can be said in a 20-20 game...lets see..
