How are you going in International Cricket 2010?

Don't you start Dutchie;) You are one of only two reasons I purchased this game. It arrived today so I'm holding my sharp cold blooded tongue. For now, that is.... I've been dormant for a while, but I can feel that frustration building all over again!!!!:facepalm

I think we have a very good cricket game here; imperfect certainly, but very good fun to play between two humans in a room or even against a much improved AI.

I have done what I do with these games when they are editable: upped the stats for opponents and designed (in this case 8) teams. Old England, Old Oz, Old WI, Old Asia, Old World (SA, NZ, Zim, Ken. . .), New World (current) and my own team (with me, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Sigi Freud etc.).
It is possible to design players like Michael Holding et al with maximum bowling or batting stats and you have a game that is a real challenge and real fun. Playing a Customised Tournament with these teams my last two games (Hard, mini hud, broadcast view) were tremendous.

Chasing 315 in a 50 over match, I needed 15 off the final four with no wickets in hand to win by one wicket with two balls remaining.

The last game saw me chasing 341 and I needed 15 off the last three with one wicket remaining again and 2 tailenders (one of them minimal batting stats). The last over I wanted 5 to win, then the scores were level facing the last ball. I pushed it in to the covers and set off and watched W.G.Grace pick it up and hit the stumps to leave me a yard short and a tied game. Superb!

As cricket afficianados we will always want more, but for heaven's sake, don't let that blind us to what we have already got.

Ah some sense at last from someone!:)

Good to see you here Cook! Wondering where you had got to. Be interesting to here how this one compares bowling wise for you compared to Cricket 07!

I am having great games with this thing. Maybe because I don't play it to death and I am not that good at batting. It has its faults but it certainly takes my attention for now!

I'll drink to that!

Geez Dutchy, don't become the censorship police!

Just ban me already.

I think half of your fridge must be empty by now!

Referring to someones mother and to someones "intelligence" in the way you did is way off the mark mate. That isn't censorship, it is decency. And I stand right behind it. You should be at least grateful I didn't take it further than that as it definitely warranted it.

I am having fun for the past couple of days, after doing the same exact thing. It took me a good amount of time to edit the individual stats and line up the best 11.

It would be awesome if they allowed us to edit the England and Australian teams. Completely agree with the restrictions that come with license etc., just a wish.

Spinners are competitive when they have a good 95+ stats.

Talking of spinners: I am facing both North and Hauritz who are both plugging away in hot conditions on a flat track here in Edgbaston...loving it! They have taken the pace off my innings as I have to be careful after being to expansive and losing a wicket and nearly a second but the chance was dropped! Great stuff....

Dont you find the spinners easy to play aginst? I do find they are much easier in broadcast than action cam view. But i dont have much trouble against spin. Dont score too many off them, but dont really lose wickets either.

Trouble with making the spinners "really" good is dont you find when they can turn the ball so much off the first delivery of the match on "any" pitch abit dull? I tend to lower the spin/cut stat for all bowlers, as i find im leaving a wide delivery from a seamer and the next thing i know its turned 20 foot and hit leg stump!! Also the same from a spinner.

Problem with me is that I am probably not very good! The spinners ripped England apart yesterday with me batting. Even Katich had a bowl at me and Michael Clarke!:p

What I am finding interesting after a little experimenting is the following:
if you use broadcast cam the AI tend to collapse more easily than in broadcast view.

I played the Aussie second batting innings: they were skittled for 107 in 23 overs in broadcast view.
Reset: Aussies currently 30 without loss off 12!

Needs more experimenting but I have noticed this before. Anybody else or is this just me wishing too much!?:p

Just got my copy today and started my first game on hard. I lost the toss and was put in to bat. Didnt get off to a great start losing strauss to a ball that nipped in a LOT. I only managed to score runs with trott who finished 93 not out off 145 balls, nobody else got above 20! finished 188 all out off 48.2 overs. now to bowl.

Welcome to the forums: are you playing an ODI or a test match??

Been playing a Test for my story.

Batting is very realistic, I scored 380 odd in a shade over 3 sessions, unfortunatly i steamrolled the AI in 30 odd overs for 160 all out.

Might consider simming the AI batting for competitive scores, that would easily make the Test matches last until the 4th if not final day.

Played a test with only 3 recognised seamers in the attack today! Hardest thing ever, I seriously need to reconsider my squad line-ups.

My line up atm: Strauss (c), Cook, Trott, Pietersen, Morgan, Collingwood, Prior (w), Broad, Swann, Anderson, Onions.

Proposed line-up: Strauss (c), Cook, Trott, Pietersen, Collingwood, Flintoff, Kieswetter (w), Broad, Swann, Anderson, Finn

Btw, if your wondering why I have the likes of Finn and Kieswetter in my squad, it's because I downloaded a squad file from the stickied thread in this forum

Was that a test side? Ide not have morgan in a test side myself as hes to much a one day player for my likes. I never include retired players. So flintoff wouldnt be in my side. Had to remove murali from the sri lanka team too! When i play england i use:
Strauss, cook, trott, pieterson, collingwood, bell, prior, bresnan, swann, broad, anderson. In that order.
3 seamers is fine in english temperatures. Plus collingwood and trott can chip in with a few if needed. I have a test against the windies going at the mo and i put them into bat first at cardiff. They made it to lunch 77/0. Dropped "3" catches though. :doh rotated bresnan, broad and annderson for the whole 30 overs and they hardly broke a sweat!

Cant say ive noticed it. I find things like that are just in the mind! :D

Well I will continue my experimenting: went to broadcast view...two wickets...went back to action cam.....Aussies put on a 120 runs in a session against me without giving a chance away......mmmmm, interesting, Dr Watson, very interesting.....

Been playing on normal since I've struggled with the batting...But I've just taken a test match hat-trick. Time to move up? :help
