India in England/Ireland/Scotland

Didn't watch him in 2003 then, where he averaged 50 with bat and ball...his bowling came on massively only in 2004.

He's had good all-round series, defiantly. But I don't think he's been really consistent over a period. I think he's more useful in Test Cricket where he seems less pressurized. In tests I would call him an all-rounder. In ODI's he's just a hit and miss kinda guy with the bat.

Although I too am not a big fan of Dravid as captain (never was), I think its a bit too harsh to blame the defeat on him. England showed a lot of character in the end to get the win and full credit to Bopara and Broad.

Btw, what is this I am seeing??.....England are actually winning ODIs.:p

Vaughan isn't captain anymore, that's why.

I told you England had a good chance. They've been improving. However consistency has been a little bit of a problem in the past. They need to keep their standard up. I think they've been out-fielding and out-bowling India which is where they're getting the most advantage. Their lower order batting is also another strength over India.

*Go's red*
England 0 5 Sri Lanka
Pakistan 3 2 England
India 5 1 England
England 1 2 West Indies

Was Vaughan captain in these defeats....grrr, that's not why mate, sometimes the team can't play well, and sometimes the other team play really well, we can't blame Vaughan, he only captained ODI's for the first time since 2005 this year!:)
Right, back to how good Englands tail was.

didnt peter moores say that vaughan isnt out of the odi picture completly, so he could play some odi cricket, doubt it though

Really doubt it, considering how well Bell is doing and how well the lower order are doing.

The next game is extremely crucial to the whole series. India need to win it to remain in the series, England can win it to wrap the series with the 5th game itself making the last two matches dead rubbers.

One change I feel should be made is some one like Uthappa given a chance in place of Dinesh Karthik. They cant drop Ganguly or Tendulkar. So this is the only change they can make. The bowlers pick themselves. Cant drop RP coz when Agarkar goes for big runs, RP can lend some sort of economy. This team is stuck with almost the same XI. We just have to perform with whatever we have now. Possibly more of the passion that was on display at the start of the England innings.

And again India couldn't finish of the tail. But nevertheless it was a good effort by both teams. If Broad would have been given out for that LBW dismissal of Piyush Chawla things could have been different.

well...they have been improving considerably. great dept in batting,
TIMES better bowlers and TIMES better fielders.

its been like a stereotype for india over the years. if someone is low on form,
its advisable to play against india. ! if your trying out your youngsters...you can freely do it against the indians ! :p

isnt there anyone in the domestic circuit who could bowl better than the current lot ?? how many of you feel irfan pathan and mohd. kaif should be brought back ??

i feel pathan can be given another go. instead of a fifth bowler, he can be used so that he can lend some solidity to the batting. lets see what the 20-20 w/c throws at us. if some youngsters catch the selectors with great performances, they can well sneak into the ODI side. now the selectors have to try out youngsters in place of the veterans (including Dravid who is a veteran too).

We could always play the 'Sreesanth was plumb at Lords' card too you know. ;)

Take rough with the smooth, what goes around comes around etc etc.

Great work from Broad and Bopara. If Flintoff doesn't shape up soon it won't be long before he's batting at 8.

Dravid in that same innings;).

Sorry, just extremely peeved that India could not finish England off. It just shows they lack something in the bowling department. Also, when a team grabs victory from the jaws of defeat like that in any sport, it is often because they are much better than the opposition...I find that hard to swallow.

That being said, Broad batted very well, he leant onto his drives well and looked very much like a international batsman. No doubt he will be promoted up the order as an all rounder and his bowling will suffer as a result though. England have a gem in Stuart Broad, they must not waste him.

I can't see India winning this series...India need 3/3 which looks impossilbe....

India did 4/4 in this series last year in the first four games, it is possible.

yeap but last year year england couldn't beat their way out of a paper bag when it came to odi's..

totall different team now..

If England win the next match it will make the 7 ODI series look even stupider. No one wants 2 dead rubber ODIs
