India in England/Ireland/Scotland

yea totally agree..

can u imagine D/L in the last game..114-7..i bet india would have won on D/L method..

i hope this doesn't end the match..colly has a good chance of a century..
D/L is based on what usually happens. At 114/7, 8, maybe 9, out of 10 people would have said the match was in India's bag.

3 parts of this game cost england..

1. lewis taking the new ball..
2. those last three over that went for 38 runs !
3. D/L method taking off 5 overs off but only 13 runs..

they should scrap D/L and bring back reserve days..

thats was already the case before this match..

england are going to have to bring in some players..cos bopara isn't going to play in the next game and lewis is crap when it isn't swinging..

Although you are peeved and I would be too, do not be irrational. Reserve days will result in crowds being disappointed and largely empty houses from people having to buy tickets on the door and not being able to make it on a Monday.

The whole 5 overs for 13 runs was because the method clearly thought that England would not survive if there were the full 50 overs (which judging by their end position, they likely wouldn't) and so there has to be some sort of run rate increase to make up for that so to speak.

Duckworth-Lewis always seems to prefer one team over the other, at least in matches that I have watched, and recently. It's the best method we have, though.
England have chucked up wickets like a sickly teen on a rollercoaster. Wickets are half of the numbers in D/L, so it's no surprise they're behind the 8 ball. India kept theirs, England didn't.

Duckworth/Lewis didn't lose it for them. They went 4/104 before the rain break. That's what put them up the duff. You lose wickets, D/L targets get higher. Then they came out and the only guy planting his foot made a fist of it.

with collingwood there which target do you think england would have a better chance of chasing...

82 runs of 66 balls ~7rpo
69 off 36 balls ~12 rpo

i'd be very curious what the revised target would have been when we were cruising at 97-1 just minutes before the rain..would rpobly have knocked 30+ runs off..

I know D/L is the best method available....but it massively favours the team batting 1st, as it assumes that if the team batting 2nd lossing early wkts that they can not win.. and thats not the case.

anyways onto the oval for the next match ??

we should expect a high scoring match at the oval unless flintoff plays because t does favour bouncy bowlers there.

anyways pietersen is going through a bad little patch here, never thought i'd say that...

It may not come in this series, but Pietersen is due an absolute slobberknocker of an innings. Put it this way, i'd be quite happy for him to do poorly in the remaining games of the series but take the T20 world cup by storm. 150* against Australia sounds nice doesn't it?

We just didn't turn up today. Understanable really; we've performed excellently for 4 games straight so a blip was due at some point. Let's just hope it was in fact a blip and we bounce back on Wednesday.

I think the Test players are finally starting to feel the strain of a long summer. Anderson just didn't look right today.

Very good batting from India today. But as usual, on a placid batting track. I too thought Dravid should bat today and Colly gifted it to us. So far, Sachin has had a very good series with scores of 99, 71 and 55. Same with Ganguly, Yuvraj and Dravid. If only we had luck going in our favor in one of the games that we lost, we could have been on top here with 3-2 in our favor. Our fielding has put us in this position. But today it was a better ground fielding effort though catches continue to be put down.

With the series alive, I feel India need to up their aggression for the next game and try to bring England down. Sachin's batting was aggressive and hope it continues. First time Gambhir gets runs against a more experienced attack. Good enough for one more game. May be bring back RP Singh for Agarkar but unlikely as Agarkar has got 2 wickets today. I think we should persist with Ganguly as the fifth bowler. He was exemplary today bowling a tight line and length and not giving anything to the batsmen. The players look certainly tired after a long tour. Need a break badly. Good that our seniors are not playing the slam bang 20-20 World Cup. Should be fresh for the Australia ODI's which are going to be a mammoth task (by then we should have a coach).

Not really, the pitch was just useless for bowlers. Lewis and Anderon are genuine swing bowlers and rely on swing for their wickets and neither of them got even a hint of swing today. Come Lords and he will probably rip through India's top order.

It's a real shame Colly didn't get his hundred. I would have liked the innings to continue until at least Colly got out because he played magnificently.

You just know KP will get out soon when he starts to bat. He is out of nick.
