India in England/Ireland/Scotland

he should just go out and try to smash it from ball one in the next match, cos at the moment he's not looking like making a run , and getting out in very tame ways..

at least go down fighting not with a whimper..

ever since he was accused of not being a team player he's changed his game..he's no where near as attacking as when he 1st started playing for England....can u remembver the last time he hit or even tried to hit a six ? he used to slog sweep for 6 for fun..

Yes, I do remember.
He's out of form so he won't be slogging from ball one, he'll want to get a qucik 20 and bild from there.

Several decisons cost us today.

Playing the cover player over the man in the squad (Dimi), disrupting the new ball partnership (Why? It was doing so well, and it affected Broad's game, massively, Colly, you idiot), and waiting too long to bring Monty in (27th over iirc). India played the better cricket and credit to them for doing that, they got a bit of the rub of the green (Like Nigel Llongs howler when Yuvi (iirc) edged through to Prior off of Panesar, still though, plenty more seperated the teams.

For England, positives: Collingwood, very good all round performance with bat and ball, shame his captaincy was poor (Ie, breaking up the new ball partnership), I thought Prior looked in a bit better form today, good little innings, shame he over balanced.

Now it's down the London, so we can finish this marathon series.

Collingwood's captaincy was bad today. Lot's of strange decisions, first being the toss and then the opening bowlers, they got it all wrong really the think tank. His innings was good. He's performed well this year in ODI cricket. In previous years, i've always thought he's been a weakness. He's upped his scoring rate a bit. He was also the best bowler.

Fully agreed with all of that.

India now have momentum to level the series.
These next two should be good games.

Puts into perspective how important that victory at Old Trafford was. We could be trailing 3-2.

How about Gough :p

lol. I think he's accepted along with everyone else that he's never going to put on an England shirt again.

But it does raise a big question. With Freddie gone who is England's third seamer to come on first change?

Is Sidebottom still injured?

Another few names. Charlie Shreck, Graham Onions, Glen Chapple?

Didn't Chapple get included in the squad a year ago. He bowled 5 overs or so against Ireland and then got injured. He hasn't been given another chance since then.

He can bat a wee bit aswell so I think Chapple's a reasonable shout.

Collingwood is a fairly new captain,so you can ezcuse him.
But as you say,the captaincy in this particular series has been shoddy.
Dravid, infact might end up being one of India's worst ever captains.

Completely agree about his batting - he just keeps getting better and better, changing from merely a grinding recovery player to a dynamic aggressive or defensive player. His bowling too is continually improving and a vital piece of our team. He is an example to the rest of the team - determination can get you very far.

His bowling was very good yesterday but it must be noted that the ball was doing a lot for both him and Ganguly and so the conditions probably favoured 70mph swing bowling. I can imagine that his bowling may take a back seat or even stop completely on the Sri Lanka tour. Ganguly was never a special bowler but the conditions in England are making him look like one, I imagine the same holds true for Collingwood.

On the contrary, his batting is excellent. He can adapt to the situation well and nurdle/loft/slog depending on the situation and seems to do all three well. He clearly has a very good scoring shot in the slog sweep against spinners and usually plays pacers comfortably, I can see the captaincy improving his batting even more. His career has really seen him evolve as a batsman, it is good to see.
