India in England/Ireland/Scotland

Uthappa played well but so many of his runs came behind the wicket off shots that he didn't mean to play that it takes a little bit of sheen out of his innings. Definitely credit to him for sticking in there and he played well in the last over to finish the game off. He's got a good cricketing brain, though, as he shepherded the strike well when he had to play with the tail. I just hope the selectors don't try and slot him in down the order because he's far more effective up top.
It's very much to his credit as Broad and Anderson were bowling well enough to get more wickets than they did. He used his feet to upset the natural order and of course when you're half way down the pitch those edges do tend to miss the keeper. He also played some nice shots. Given time to set his eye, I think he could be very dominant no matter where in the order he sits.

Gambhir is unfortunate to be a fringe player as he has been somewhat consistent. As has been said however, he doesn't do quite enough for the high position he takes. It would be much better for the team if he was a middle order player.

The biggest question is over Dhoni. He is looking ruinously low on confidence. It might be a consideration to promote him to nurse him into form, but in a final, it is unlikely.

I was about to say: "you make your own luck." Yes, Uthappa was a bit fortunate, but he was playing aggressively and with intent and when you do that, those inside edges do tend to miss the stumps more often than not. On the other hand when you're playing defensively and you're closer to the stumps the edges usually knock back the stumps.

He definitely has a cool head on his shoulders.

I'll be interested to see whether Dravid retains Gautham Gambhir for the last match, but going by the "winning combination" theory that's so much a part of Indian cricket, I think he'll make the 11. He's the weakest link right now in the team...

I'd say the weakest link is Agarkar. He is getting wickets here and there but he has been extremely expensive. At 7.11 the only bowlers who have been more expensive are Sachin (7.27 in 11 overs) and Munaf (8.23 in 13 overs). He's got the best strike rate (bar Munaf) but he gives away so many runs that it almost negates it.

It would be an evenly contested match.
But I think that India will win, they have always done well in crunch matches at Lord's !

Why oh why are England putting so much effort into playing Flintoff tomorrow? Have they not learned their lesson? Just rest him. His fitness is a lot more important than winning an ODI.

And Dravid will wave his pants this time after winning.:p

Nah he wouldnt do a Gattuso - Italian footballer after winning the World Cup Final.

Whats next ?
The next Indian captain to win a series in England and wave his underpants ?:p

naah the better idea will be to grab the pants of the opposing captain and wave it from the Lords balcony. And Indian captain will shout then "Catch it".:p

Er...yes. There haven't been too many 'crunch games' between England and India at Lords that India have won.

i hope it will be a cracker tomorrow or a simple win for india, i dont mind just an indian win. dravid waving his top would be fun, but he is a cool and relaxed guy doubt we will see that but who knows. if anyone can try to upload the sky sports cricket advert, (latest tours etc..) as i would like to see it, it should be shown tomorrow, well i think

India won the World Cup final in 1983 at Lord's as well as the Natwest Series final. That's two already from the top of my head. There you go.
