India in England/Ireland/Scotland

I wish some of you lot would stop saying the game is finished with over 65 overs left to play.

Watching pawar run is hilarious.

I thought Priors glove work was better at Leeds..Today its gone south again. Comments?

this has a been a dissapointing final considering enjoyment and tension, i would rather have had england winning if it was a match like the ovals.....anyway boohoo :(

You Indians shouldn't give up hope yet.

The umpiring has been shocking. I dunno if they have gotten a decision right yet, The Dravid one looked like it may have been the thinnest of edges so I guess you could say that was fair.

Anderson and Massjhtvhanis have been excellent. Flintoff got lucky with the wickets and is pretty expensive.

I think it's time to bring in technology. Tendulkar ends up with an average over 50 and he's been given out wrongly at least 3 times from memory. I can't begin to imagine what would have happened otherwise. I'm on Holding and Nassers side on it anyway. If they can use evidance to PROVE for SURE a decision was called wrong, send the batsman back.

the match isn't over until Atherton sings. Keep up your hope. We need all the positive energy we can muster!

personally i think the umpires owe tendulkar one big apology at the end of the tour...

I'm with you/them too.
And if KP walked back to the crease after he was judged out, why can't Sachin? He should just stay there if he knows he hasn't nicked it..

There is a difference though. Although Sachin may not have hit it, the Umpire relies soley on himself to give that decision. Whereas the Pietersen-Dhoni relied on Dhoni being honest to the best of his ability or not to try and cheat. Unfortunatly for whatever reason, whether he felt he'd taken it or not Dhoni went for it and the Umpires did ask him if he had taken it and he nodded. Then the big screen showed he didn't. Bit similar to the Collingwood decision in the last game, so it's not all been against you. I agree that the Umpiring has been dreadful but stop making it out that it's just India and Sachin that have been hard done by. We had Collingwood in the last game, Uthappa's hit the cover off one today and been given not out.

OK, coming back to normalcy, I am trying to grab as much of the optimism that you non-Indians have on our team. If India can get to 200, we can make a fight out of it. But I somehow feel that throughout the game, we might have to fight against the odds. You cant say the team got nervous on the big occasion. No one showed any signs of nervousness and on the contrary, they were aggressive and positive. It just doesnt look like India's day. Hope the signs change and we get to see some luck going for India. They need a lot of it to stay in this match.

Because Sachin did not feel it right to stay there, he accepted the umpires decision - that is his choice. I have to say that the decision did not look out but perhaps Dar's view made it seem like the sound was when the bat was in line with the ball. India have not had the rub of the green with the umpiring but 9 times out of 10, the best side prevails (See: Australia;)).

Dhoni and Powar are looking good here and India should look for 220 ideally. Powar has a List A average similar to Luke Wright's so he is no mug whatsoever and whoever can predict what Dhoni's going to do next should try the lottery, because it is anyones guess. I do have faith in India and especially the spectacular Zaheer Khan to try and defend this total.

A small note: with many new players in the twenty20 championship and India A tour of South Africa, I can see a completely different ODI side playing Australia in October.

i just noticed that dhoni has a poor defense to panesar, his body is almost outside legstump and he plays with half a bat, just look at his edgebaston dismissal...

is it me, or his powar's batting looking solid?...
