India in England Jun-Sept 2014

I endorse the man of the thread pokerface, excellent posting mate.

Hmm vaguely remember that series. Think I washed it from my memory. Thanks for reminding me, the nightmares are returning lolz.

Congrats to the English. Two tests remaining still awaiting something special from virat.

There's only the oval test left...

e: is there any reason why Dhoni doesn't do an interview with TMS? I've only just got into the habit of listening to it: but Matthews did an interview with them and I'm sure that Clarke did an interview during the Ashes in England...

It's a pity that India are failing so poorly. Cook couldn't have asked for a better script after the Lord's test. I still wonder how things would have turned out if Cook had not been dropped by Jadeja at slips. I imagine with pressure mounting on the captain, the feeling in the dressing room wouldn't have been that good and maybe that would have have adversely affected the team morale on the field as well.

If only Jadeja had hung onto the catch, if only....

One test remaining, I think u mean two innings.

Also lets take a look at the away run for India. We know of the torrid run, but right before that is also important.

2007 - 11 (Upto the 4-0 England tour) was a good period. India since 2007 has won 3 away series (not counting 2 against B'Desh). Vs Eng 1-0, vs NZ 1-0 and vs WI 1-0, and have drawn in SL and SA. 2 away series wins in B'Desh in this period. In the same period (to present the complete picture), India lost only 1 away series 2-1 to Australia.

Under Dhoni in the same period, India played 4 away series, won 2 and drew 2.

Well done to England firstly. I don`t see us coming back from this deep pile of shit to level this series 2-2. There is a lot that is not right with this side. To all English fans out there, here is an admission on behalf of Indian supporters here. We are a bunch of passionate followers of the sport and our side. This defeat, for me and a lot of Indian fans who have invested a lot of energy and time following this side is very depressing. I`ve seen a lot of cricket over the last couple of decades but none has felt as bad as this series. To lose a series being outspun by Moeen Ali is absoluely farcical.
I`m going away from cricket for a while now unless something miraculous happens at the Oval. The ODI series and the home series that follow this one do not interest me a wee bit. I don`t see us troubling the Aussie side in Australia or doing anything worthwhile in the World Cup.

Cricket might have lost one more supporter tonight. This is the last day I would follow this sport with any great passion.

In all of this, congratulations to the England team, what a super fightback after Lord's. I remember posting before the series, what is Cook under pressure for, India are coming 5-0 to follow :D. I guess he wanted it to be even more of a comeback.

I suppose for India that it is not a 5-0 and what is more they are on the board is a definite improvement on the recent run. Having a fit Ishant in the previous two tests would have helped probably, but India effectively lost to a 2 bowler attack, not quite pardonable exactly.[DOUBLEPOST=1407606939][/DOUBLEPOST]Oddly enough after the ODI and sole T20, India have no fixtures till they tour Aus in Dec !! A long rest for the team.

I can't fault you for it, adi. I pretty much have the same feeling right now, but the "ever optimistic Indian supporter" in me keeps glowing everytime I fall into the dump. In my history here at PC, you seem to be pretty similar to me in personality. Hope the patriotism keeps you from losing complete hope.

I shudder at the very thought of our team facing them in their own backyard. But I do agree with you somewhat. It's very hurtful to keep losing the way we are at the moment.

ya at the point of time even a KP return looked possible now its allover for KP and all hail cook, as there wont be any test till next year for eng afaik.

I have been there. Especially through the 90s remember crying as a kid on India's defeats. Remember them failing to chase I think 120 in WI and being distraught.

I believe they just put together a tour vs West Indies at home, our new favorite whipping boys, Sri Lanka seem to be in the dog house as far as the BCCI are concerned.

Poker, I`ve been there since the 90s as well. Remember Bridgetown very well also. Is been more than 20 years of following this sport but never felt so helpless about this side. This is a serious underperformance by our side losing to a side who are`nt at their best either.

I`d lost a lot of interest in the port with the glut of T20s and pointless ODIs. Its only test cricket that I follow with interest anyway. Somehow, in this series its all gone so much as I predicted that its not even funny. A lot of defensive team selections early in the series and inexplicably illogical moves during the matches has brought a sense of dejection like never before. Those defeats in the 90s did not feel as bad because we did not have the side back then. Dodda Ganesh, David Johnson and Co. were not going to win you tests anyway. Now you have a pool of decent bowlers and a batting lineup who have shown they can bat overseas. This is why it hurts more. Anyway, I`m off. Good luck to those following Indian cricket.

I remember saying before the '99 tour, we are bound to lose all the tests, but if we don;t have an innings defeat it would be a good tour. For this Aus tour I say that if not more than 2 for 4 defeats are by an innings its been a good tour. Thats how far we have slumped away. Ah well, a generation of Sehwag, Dravid, Tendulkar, Ganguly, Laxman and Kumble will come along only once in a while, in between its the lows.

I mean looking at the Aus side in the 90s who would have thought within a few years they would lose 3 ashes on the trot and be hammered 4-0 in Ind?

I think our next test series after this one is in the West Indies after the World Cup; then New Zealand before the Ashes. We actually have 10 Tests next summer; which is pretty exciting!

Yeah I won't be suerprised if a 2 test series is put together. Not SL though, the amount of cricket India and SL have played off late, no cricket is better than Ind SL cricket.
