India in England Jun-Sept 2014

What about Pujara to open?He had done it before and can do it again.Rahane could come in at 3,that would prevent an overall top order collapse. At no 5 we could bring in Rohit as well.I think its worth a try.

Any plan that involves Rohit playing another match for India, gets a no from me :D[DOUBLEPOST=1407932019][/DOUBLEPOST]
i would still throw in kohli for the last test he is not dhoni old live with his faults and limitations, he will learn and improve for better or might just wack anderson n co and get back in form with a couple of choicest swear words at the critics.
would even give him the license to get a pair and still not be worried of his place, just go and attack the first 30-40 runs and take it from there.
the difference i have noticed with kohli this series is normally he is angry with himself when he gets out but this series he has looked a bit lost.

I think India have it in their head that to play Test cricket involves playing in a particular way only ... It worked at Lord's, but I think that curbing their natural game is now getting to the players. Just tell them to whack the hell out of anything they. Moenn Ali specially. :D

Jokes apart what I am saying is Indian Batsman are really cutting out their original game. Being a bit aggressive wouldn't be the worst plan in the world.

Pujara is fighting the same battle as Kohli (only difference is Kohli has media attention due to his bigger stardom). Its putting even more pressure on him by asking him to open when he needs big runs under his belt.

Just read this quote from a former domestic Indian batsman about Kohli's issues

If this is the case, I dont think Kohli would have as much of a problem in Australia as opposed to England. The lateral movement is a lot more in England than in Australia. And remember, Kohli scored in South Africa against the likes of Steyn, Morkel. So it does seem like this guy above might be having a point.

I completely agree, but what is Duncan Fletcher doing in the nets? Is he even trying to suggest to Kohli what he should be doing. Being side on seems to be a slight adjustment that could be worked on during the nets sessions. I don't understand what the Indian team coach is doing in the Nets to help kohli. Now like I said, if kohli is a great player he will prove it to the cricketing world in the last match but the chances of that happening are pretty slim.

That's the worst idea I've heard of. Do you even understand that Pujara and Kohli are supposed to be shielded from facing the new ball, they are the meat of our batting!Speaking of that, another main problem has been our openers haven't been able to put together partnerships to shield those two. Dhawan and gambhir have been atrocious! Another thing, rahane at 5 is good because we need stability towards the bottom as well. I'm done with rohit, he simply can't play overseas. I think ashwin and Kumar are better batters than rohit! We need the same lineup as old trafford, but get rid of pankaj for ishant. Pujara opening could be the worst thing I've heard of!

Guys on an off topic thing what is the sportsbook thing for? I made a bet and won some vCash, What then ... is it of any use, or is it all just a virtual thing?

Since everyone is so confident with Ashwin's batting why not slot him in at number 3?

This Fletcher guy is a dumbo. Never ever understood why the heck did BCCI go for a guy like Fletcher after Kirsten left us. And also frankly, after all the disastrous runs we've had with Fletcher as coach, BCCI's continued persistence flummoxes me even more.

To me, Chappell was better. He pushed people out of their comfort zones. He made enemies in the process, but he did something in an attempt to do good for India. Fletcher just takes the backseat and lets things happen by itself. Doesn't seem like the guy to make an attempt to fix something even if it is broken.

YA chappel despite being a pain is actually being given less credit than he deserves, he may have had a disastrous WC, but did blood and encourage a lot of youngsters at that time.
His problem was while he encouraged youngsters he locked horns and wanted to eliminate senior players, which caused the disharmony, instead if he had looked at ways to make the seniors successful like kristen he would have succeeded in his job.

The thing is im surprised at this Fletcher with ECB was opposite almost like foot ball manager he never shied from press and was outspoken, maybe its some clause with bcci to keep him shut.

It was a backward step not because fletcher wasn't good but his style is totally alien from the approachable kristen under whom our players had flourished.

Once Fletcher is done, I would really like Kirsten or Wright to return.

Having said, having seen the FTP I posted a few days ago, the run after Aus is easy. Away tours are to Ban and Zim and every remaining test match on India pitches. Its a run of 8 such series, or so. So after Aus, the coach will suddenly start to look rather good. So I don't see Fletcher going anywhere if he lasts the Aus tour.

Totally disagree ... Greg had terrible ideas, and was terrible for the team. A coach should not be one who makes enemies within the very team he has to manage. Pitting player against player, turning Dravid aginst Ganguly, only the worst coaches do that. Greg's record as a coach is also terrible he has failed everywhere. It was the coach, not the team. Not to mention he ruined Irfan's bowling.

i think its more likely to finish him off for good if he isnt already, so they can say that he has been tried for good. I would rather look at trying to win the last match and get dhawan back. Even if gambhir manages to scrap a fifty odd, its just not going to be helpful going forward, gambhir should not have been in the squad in the first place, if he has really got it in him, he should score good in FC and then make a comeback, not like this.
