India in England Jun-Sept 2014

Its so stupid how he tries to put down the newly installed drainage system just because it negates the 'so-called home advantage' for England that was driven by moisture on the pitch/ground. For him, it seems like all he is concerned about in the advantage for England players. What about people who pay the ticket and come to watch a game? Just because the water/moisture is all absorbed, Trent Bridge/Lords, etc. is not going to become Wankhede/Eden Gardens.

It certainly wont be wankhede or Eden, but that's the prob its not going to help spinners as well as pacers, which will in turn affect quality of the game played, which affects the viewers.

Still very weary of this series because of our bowlers and Dhoni's captaincy. I think our batting will be fine. Its our bowling and captaincy.
Not much can be done there, except hope, dhoni is looking to prove a few things here change his game as well as the team plan lets see.

The one thing im really worried is, im not sure of our pace battery will last the 5 tests, while they did good in spells during SA nad NZ, i always got the feeling that one more test and these guys wont be able to hold up.They looked at the end of their wits by the end of two tests.India has to win the first two tests if they have to keep the steam running.

A good idea would be to keep rotating pacers atleast 2 of the three every match and keep them fresh.

MSD himself has said he will be batting at six, i do feel he has to, he has been shying away from it for a long time , time to step it up or he won't be able to get the team balance that's required.

Stuart Binny to debut :facepalm. We finally decide to take a risk but do that by possibly playing Binny? Playing both Ashwin and Jadeja would be a far better bet. Ashwin is a better bowler and batsman than Binny who is neither.

I have been anti-Binny as well. Don't understand why he was selected

But his performance on that damp wicket against BD, and his quick 81 during the warmup suggest, he might not be a terrible choice. Ashwin is as unproven as Binny when it comes to overseas conditions

The whole idea behind playing 5 bowlers is to strengthen our bowling, to take those 20 wickets, now tell me in what realm does playing Binny almighty tweaking strengthen our bowling?

Two things - Dhoni at 5 might keep him away from the new ball. #2 - to me, Rahane seems the Laxman mould where he can play with and around the tail.

The thing is I want Dhoni going after the new ball, while Rahane can see it off if he has to and we can't position our batting order based on someone being able to bat around the tail, we need our best batsmen upfront and scoring runs, putting us in positions where we won't even need to bring the tail into play.

In my opinion, I would rather gamble with a genuine bowler or a batsman than a bits and pieces cricketer like Binny. In Jadeja you already have one bits and pieces player. Two of those in a test XI is an absolute no! When will we learn to gamble with genuine options. If you want to take risks, do it with raw pace/spin or potential quick bowlers and not Binny!

Aaron in place of Rohit Sharma with Jadeja batting at No.7 would have not been a weak selection. Binny is a really poor decision which will backfire. Already in Ishant, you have a liability. Cannot afford any more of them. Warmup matches mean nothing. Binny is`nt going to get you test match wickets, on any pitch!

Have to disagree with you on Jadeja, at this point in the Test arena, he's good enough to be considered a bowler and in the other formats, he's a genuine all-rounder.

Looking at the pitch, it would be a huge mistake to play 4 pace bowlers on this track.

I`m not for 4 bowlers either. In fact I would rather err on the side of a specialist bowler in place of Binny. Binny would`nt make it as a bowler or a batsman in the lineup.

An intriguing Test series awaits. Two teams who don't really expect to win.

By the looks of it Trent Bridge, the home of cricket, is dry today but the forecast is iffy for the next four days.

It's official that Stuart Binny makes his debut in this Test match.
Stuart was handed the India cap by none other than Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

I'm not there today but considering India are on tour it's a chance for me to get out my picture of me at Trent Bridge for the India Test in 2007. Great memories.
