India in England Jun-Sept 2014

I am a little surprised to not have Ballance in the Eng team. Have hrd he can hit the ball when he needs to. Maybe he will be rotated in later

Whats up with us taking catches

We always take catches in the outfield, sure there is the occasional drop as with any side. Slip catches is another thing. However much one would like to slate IPL, and I am not exactly making a case for IPL here, but thx to IPL the outfielding of Ind has come up in leaps and bounds. Yes slip catches need to be worked on, but apart from that, outfield catching, close in fielding standards bave gone up tremendously.

The fact that everyone was moping about how India was going to lose this series 5-0 and every game by 100 runs was really funny.

England are bad at one-day cricket; they always have been. Hales has been their best batsman in this game, and I think having him up there is a step in the right direction as we can attack earlier, but the rest of the team is a bit shit at this form of cricket. Nice to see Stokes scoring a few: may as well attack if you're 80 behind the D-L par score with no chance to win

That did look like it was going to clear the boudary easily. ALthough good to see Stokes for once not getting out on Zero this summer like he did in all the test innings.[DOUBLEPOST=1409157766][/DOUBLEPOST]

Well to be fair, when India have underperformed away, they have lost both the tests and ODIs. That has been the recent trend. Even I didn't think Ind were going into the ODI series as favs. This is definitely a welcome surprise. Having said, I wouldn't put it past India to find a way to lose the next three. :p

Playing Stokes and Woakes is really, really dumb IMO; especially since Stokes hasn't done anything to justify his selection since the Ashes last winter... I've not been fair towards Woakes in the test series but he bowled good today, I just think that having two players who are regular English all-rounders at 7 and 8 means that you don't have that extra edge that would really help you get wickets in the middle. I'd honestly give Finn a go provided England don't try to "fix" him again, if he is good then he'll be very valuable in Australia...

@Untouchables666 Where are you? Where hvae you disappeared off to the second India got the upper hand in the match? I am missing all the negativity you bring. Tell us how this is an over-rated performance, and how India will still lose the series 4-0.

The comeback is happening, we're only 100 behind the duckworth lewis par score!!!!

Keep talking up your great captain. Umesh Yadav not picked for the first game of the series and Mohit to play ahead of him. God save India from Dhoni`s fetish towards mediocre seamers. I really do see some upsets against us in the World Cup if we field an attack consisting of Bhuvi and Mohit in Australian conditions.

Your Great Captain - Interesting phrase.

Mohit to play ahead of him. God save India from Dhoni`s fetish towards mediocre seamers. - Mohit a Mediocre seam bowler, even before he had played a match. In a later post you said you have nothing against Mohit, so how the hell did you call him a mediocre seam bowler even before he had bowled a delivery? He was the pick of our seam ball bowlers in case you watched the match, and were not busy forming more prejudices against the captain. Oh wait he is not your captain, so I guess you can do that.

Have a little faith sometime. MSD is not a total muppet you know. I know its wasted on you. Though I guess having warm weather fans is inevitable I suppose.

This is actually part of England's big master plan; get Shastri in as Indian coach by intentionally losing a few games and then thump them when he struggles...

Lets see how well that goes :spy

India successfully pulled of their masterplan of getting Cook into form as batsman and captain, and making sure he stays on for the world cup.

Right well done, but MSD and team India come on consider the larger public interest here, and find a way to lose the next three ODIs, or the sack MSD movement and witch hunt will have to be put off untill the Aus tour.
