India in England Jun-Sept 2014

@richowebbo I was just checking out that game, I am not that keen on the graphics to be honest. Cricket games have such a long way to go. You have Football on the other hand with such great games of all sorts. Hopefully the developers come up with something good soon. I tried DB, and while still its a great step up, but its still so far from being PES

Initially after the big shake up of the support staff following a massive series defeat, any team is bound to become more alert and more focused in the short run. So even if Raina is being genuine, it should not come as a surprise.

Suresh Raina tells us what inspired his match-winning century in the second ODI
... full interview here ...
When it Raina-ed in Cardiff - News - BCCI.tv

How did the team get over the Test defeats?
We didn’t do well in the Test series but that doesn’t mean we are a bad team. We are ranked No. 2 in ODIs and are the reigning World Cup and Champions Trophy winners. MS did a very good job of leading the team after the Tests and maintain the confidence of the young boys. We had decided that we would run for each other and share each other’s success. That showed in our fielding performance.

Was it easy to instill that self-belief again?
Ravi Shastri gave us a lot of confidence. He came in the team meeting and said a few words to the team which were very inspiring. He was also sitting with me in the bus when we were on our way to the stadium and he told me, “khadoos khelna hai (play a stubborn game)”. There is a different comfort level when you talk to a former Indian player; you can be free and honest. All the other coaches have been very supportive as well but Ravi Shastri set the tone for us and instilled confidence in the team.

Such open praise for Ravi Shastri. But the source is bcci.tv .. so ..

Yeah they are trying to make it look like Ravi Shastri is the miracle solution after all.

Well its not the graphics that make the game. Its the Database. Its such a fun game and its cheap. Despite its flaws, Don Bradman is great. The career mode is excellent, it really is. Cricket games will never match the likes of FIFA and PES (I used to be PES nut, but Fifa got so good), because there isn't the market for it. And (I don't mean to cause offence) but where the market is, India, pirating is prevalent that it doesn't help the developers.[DOUBLEPOST=1409259898][/DOUBLEPOST]

Its only one match....I think this is an Indian team in transition, like England. I still think you will win every game, but we may get closer as the series goes on.

Yeah your point about piracy a valid one. We make Captain Jack Sparrow look like a starter in the business :)

I really doubt Ind will just win all the matches, especially with the opener woes while they continue.

haha love it!

I really doubt we can post a competitive score with the team we have. I want Cook out. I don't like him. He's just a posh Eton RIfle type. He fits the ECB perfectly.

If we go with Hales, Root, Ballance, KP, Bell and Butler in the top 6, we will be competitive at the WC. At present, that won't happen.

Why remove Cook. I will have Cook in there. Whatever his flaws off the field, he is still one of the best openers going around. Add Cook to the line up you mentioned, along with Anderson and Broad on those Aus pitches, forget being just competitive, Eng would be contenders easily.

Because I don't like him! I also don't feel he has it in him to up the run rate when required.

I would remove Cook and make Jimmy the captain. He sets all the fields for the fast bowling anyway. He's a proper northern lad (that won't mean anything to you!) and he absolutely loves it!

By the way, Andersons average in Aus is something like 38, so not that great. Broad is great in Aus though.

Anyway, Cook is staying and KP isn't coming back. So my WC 11 would be:

Cook, Hales, Ballance, Bell, Root, Butler, Moeen, Woakes, SOMEONE ELSE, Broad, Anderson

Possibly Finn as the someone else. My issue with that is Broad has stopped scorin runs, so its quite a long tail with Finn. I think Stokes has a lot of work to do, but could fill the 4th bowler role. I'd love to see PLunkett guven a go. He is another player treated horribly by the ECB and Cook along with Graham Onions. Keep an eye and Adam Lyth and Alex Leez from Yorkshire as well. Top players.

Just reitrating what richowebbo says, you cant go wrong with don bradman cricket, its nothing like cricket games before, the developers are passionate cricket fans like us, and you will see it ooze all over in the game, It captures the soul of cricket well.the developers engage the community allmost 24/7.

FIFA for all its polish is not cricket, and the amount of enjoyment you will get in this game is matchless, you will feel the pressure of being a No 4 batsman, the edginess of a opener, the finishing nerves, and bowling is actually something enjoyable and playable for the first time in a cricket game. The captures the feel of cricket really well.

Im already 250 hrs into the game and the enjoyment as well as depth of the game is only increasing. Sure there are little niggles here and there but they are very minute when you take it as a whole picture and doesnt impact your enjoyment of the game.

the graphics may not be top notch like fifa but it is pretty decent and the amazing gameplay makes up for it and the game does looks really good on PC.

I know it is off topic but being a huge fan of the game and the developers, cant help but spread the word.

I get bored of Fifa very quickly. The pressure you talk of is real! I am under huge pressure with an average of 11 at number 6. I'm just coming out to bat against Glamorgan with the team 138/4 (4 day match) after winning the toss and batting first, I need to hang about and make some runs.

What is really clever about the game, is that the AI knows I hate spinners coming around the wicket, and they always change the bowlers to match this, and the fast bowlers always come around the wicket, which I also hate. For all its issues, and some of the silly fielding and bowling structure, its up there with one of the best games I've ever played. It's so immersive.

On the point of the developers being about 24/7, I'm not entirely sure that' a good thing. It sometimes feels as though you have to be careful what you say to avoid getting beaten down by the Dev's and the people who are really behind them. Lots of new members who are posting for the first time and bringing up genuine issues get torn to pieces. They are always told that the problem has been raised etc. and they should read the forums. But there are thousands of posts and it can be hugely daunting. I tried to start a thread for new members, but it didn't take off.

You may have had a few issues with some wannabe mod members there but the devs are absolutely great, i mean they literally read all the post and all the issues are fixed categorically and given importance, and i also like the way ross and co actually feel like part of community and engage naturally instead of spewing out corporate fillers.

Also just because some member says you not to post an issue it doesnt mean you dont have to, ross always welcomes issues to be posted in a proper template and with as much info as possible so they can get on to it.
For me having been a member of the dbc journey for the past year, i know how much they listen and how much of the features we had requested as community have gone and are still going into the game till date. So its 10/10 for me on that regard to the devs.I can honestly say after sale service for DBC is top notch ad no game devs apart from maybe witcher CDPR(even they dont engage the community at this level) can even come close to it.

Also generally most of us on the forums there are also helpful to an extent.

Like you say the FAQ on this site could do with some updating so newbies can get better help, its better we carry this discussion there though.

I've not had any issues myself. A few run ins with his Biggness! But I have also been here for a year or so, and its been great the way they interact. Ross has a tendency to be a bit defensive, which can come across as rude sometimes. Especially if a new member isn't aware of how Ross is. He is a very honest and up front kinda guy. If it was my gane, as much as I'd like to think I:d be happy and firendly all the time, I would probably get shirty as well!

I always post my issues as soon as I find them, regardless of feedback from PC members.

Yeah, in the main, most people are great. Some people get a bit to serious at times, especially on this thread(!), but generally I love it here. As I've said before, the last 6 months or so have been hell for me (mental illness! Its ok, I'm only a little crazy!), and its been the perfect place to interact as I literally couldn't leave the house for 4 months!

ya this forum is great with some cricket smart people, who are actually looking for cricket discussion and is a nice outlet to have cricket debates.hell lot better than mindless nonsense in cricinfo comments section.
