India tour of Australia - 2018/19

Seemed like the intention was to make a lighthearted joke. But it's an extremely immature comment from the guy who's the coach of the Indian cricket team. He could've used any other analogy to describe his feelings during the match, and the use of "balls" is crossing the line from a man of his title.

If he wants to make any more ridiculous comments, he should just go back to commentary. His bullshit is just becoming too much at this point.

I can see why Kuldeep is such a tempting option because he is a left-arm wrist spinner which is a rarity in world cricket today. But given the loss of Pandya, the team balance took a hit and if he were to play India would literally have no batting after the 6th wicket, an area where several teams have competent allrounders/bowlers who add valuable runs. Some members are saying Kuldeep should play the next test, but the same thing might happen as it did at Lord's where batsmen didn't even have to pick his variations to bat on a green track. I'd only consider playing Kuldeep at Sydney where the ball actually turns a fair amount and it's the most spin-friendly surface in Australia. For now, it seems completely unnecessary with the job Ashwin has done at Adelaide.

Ashwin receiving flak is quite bizarre. He batted for 76 balls for 25 runs but he allowed Pujara to take control and score crucial runs. And on top of that, as others have said he held up one end and picked up key wickets. Calling Nathan Lyon a wicket-taker and comparing him to Ashwin in this aspect doesn't make sense. Lyon picked 4 wickets that were thrown away in the second innings of the Indian innings, but Lyon didn't have the support from his fast bowlers. Ash built pressure which allowed the seamers to capitalize and take their chances.

One thing I've noticed that the last 5-6 years in Australia is the seamers are the main wicket-takers, but the spinners get little assistance and keeping the pressure is what they are supposed to in unhelpful conditions like Australia. It's how Nathan Lyon operated in the last few years with him sustaining the pressure on the batsmen and the fast bowlers taking the wickets. There's nothing else that is required from a spinner in Australia. Playing Kuldeep for Perth is overkill and there is no logical reason to play him with Ash in the side.

I am sorta confident that Australia will think more than twice before giving a spicy track at the WACA or for that matter at any ground, against India. With the kind of pace attack we've gone in with (with Bhuvaneshwar and Yadav also waiting in the squad) and the fact that Australia's batting looks very mediocre without Warner and Smith, a spicy track will play a lot more into India's hands even if the Indian batsmen struggle against the chin music dished out by Aussie bowlers.

If India get a spicy wicket, we should be rubbing our hands in anticipation. Just hope we have enough gas left in the tank to wipe out the tail.

Kuldeep as a part of a 4-man attack is a risk. On a good day, he might give you 5 wickets but the guy has very little bowling experience. I`m not sure if he has the ability to give you 30 overs with good control on a non-wicket taking day which is often expected of a spinner (especially in a 4-man attack) overseas. Its not just the weakening of batting.

Kuldeep should only play if we play Ashwin at 6. I know this will sound stupid to some, but I would pick Bhuvi for Perth and not pick Bumrah. Not a form or performance thing, just horses for courses. I would honestly just make that lone change for this test. Kuldeep should play at the G and Sydney.

Umesh ahead of Bhuvi maybe? He has swing and can give you wickets with an older ball as well. Also, makes sense to have fresher legs for Perth with all the bowling in the first game.

No, I would opt for Bhuvi. Bhuvi 2.0 can bowl with the old ball. I don't buy into the myth that he's just a new ball bowler. I don't think he's as good as Umesh with the old ball, but he's good enough. Also, he can bowl 140 plus regularly now. The batting is also a bonus but I think he's just a better bowler!

I would have agreed with this a year ago. However, post his injuries, he has looked low on pace even in the limited overs format which makes me a little worried in Australian conditions. Had it been England or SA, he`d be the first guy on my team sheet.

I don't see any logical reason for dropping Bumrah instead of Shami. Rationally thinking, Bumrah is the team's best test bowler and the leader of the bowling attack. As such, if you intend to go horses for courses you drop the bowler offers you the least, instead of dropping the bowler who offers you the most. Therefore, the most rational decision would be to drop Bhuvi for Shami. You don't drop the team's highest quality bowler for horses and courses. You drop the lowest quality bowler to make the change: merely a rational chain of reasoning.

That green patch is the pitch according to Cricinfo, I seriously cannot differentiate between what is the ground and what is the pitch. Also for tomorrows match if that is the pitch, it will be a 2-3 day game. Aussies will find it tough seeing our bowling is more lethal compared to theirs.

Toss is crucial on such kind of wickets .... You win the toss and most likely end up winning the game as well.

India's 13 for 2nd Test: Kohli, Vijay, Rahul, Pujara, Rahane, Vihari, Pant, Jadeja, Ishant, Shami, Bhuvi, Umesh, Bumrah.

Ashwin, Rohit and Shaw all injured and out of the second test match. I just looked at the pictures of the pitch and even though I wanted him to play the whole tour, it might be a blessing in disguise that Ashwin is unavailable for this test match. Looking at the pitch, Bhuvi might be the ideal bowler on this surface and straight forward replacement with Ashwin. Also I don't think Vihari did anything wrong to lose his place in the line-up and can bowl some off-spin so I would bring him in place of Rohit.

If that is the pitch, Bhuvi is the first name on my team sheet. I also think it will be very humid so it will nip around!

India vs Australia 2nd test: Injuries rule Ravichandran Ashwin, Rohit Sharma out of Perth Test | Cricket News - Times of India https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com...ma-out-of-perth-test/articleshow/67070814.cms

Bad wishes for Rohit Sharma working pretty well for Rohit haters, also for few who were calling Ashwin being incompetent in the 1st Test !!!!! :rolleyes

This is exactly the type of post that irritates, annoys and aggravates me. Most of the reg posters here are fans of Indian cricket. It would take someone extremely stupid to 'hate' Rohit Sharma. Most of us are just frustrated that he hasn't become the test cricketer he should have. I am not someone who sees thing as black and white.. he has had some injuries, some good balls but mostly it's been his inability to control his instincts that have got him out. Any dimwit would prefer to see Sharma bat over Vihari and Nair but he's the least deserving of that spot followed by Vihari and then Nair.
