India tour of New Zealand - Jan to Feb 2014

I wish Shami gets a good mentor who can lead him through this phase of his career and give him the right advice.

He got special coaching from Wasim Akram during the IPL's

Actually, it could have a negative impact - Too many cooks spoil the broth. That is exactly what happened with Pathan. He was some serious talent until inputs came from all around and see where that got him.

Akram is not a bad mentor to have. As scratch978 says, Pathan was destroyed by Greg Chappell. Also ultimately, how a player's career shapes up is all finally in the hands of the player himself. He needs to eventually use his own brains and do the right things for himself, in order to have a sustainable career at the top.

Agreed to a T. Shami must know what works for him and his body. Being around the national setup pretty much ensures the fact that he'll have several people offering advice, some of which might be at odds with itself. Shami has to be the best judge since he knows more about himself than any coach does.

I pray that Dhoni gives up on Ishant Sharma, and opts for Aaron in the upcoming games. Aaron deserves a chance. If Aaron has to be one of our go-to bowlers for the WC 2015, we need to blood him now and give him consistent chances. If Aaron clicks, Aaron and Shami can be a devastating pace combination for India in the WC. Both are fast, more so Aaron. And these guys can be complemented by Bhuvaneshwar Kumar.

I just wish optimistically that we can find a serious fast bowler before the WC. It has to be either Aaron or Ishwar Pandey. I personally wish it to be Aaron.

Yes me too, it is time for Ishant to get back to domestic circuit to begin bending his back hard without getting away with recommendation/influence tactics.

ODI matches we play outside India, form a very crucial base for WC 2015. We cannot expect these guys to do wonder overseas from nowhere. They need to get some picture of it.

Another express bowler?

He was one of our fastest before he got pretty badly injured, at a guess I'd say that he'll be up around 140 km/h now. Mills will be the likely replacement in our XI though.

I envy you guys....really well placed in the bowling department.

I am not sure how many chances Dhoni will give to Ishant Sharma. Ishant Sharma is our most experienced bowler right now and because of that he should be doing well and also should lead the bowling attack. However, he is not doing any of that. He is just getting worse and worse. In the last match he was bowling at about 128-130 km/h which was even slower than Bhuvi and Bhuvi is our slowest bowler. I do know that my posts in thread always ends up talking about Varun Aaron but we need to get him in the team because that guy is seriously good. He is just the kind of bowler you want in these conditions. Varun is similar to Ishant as in he hits the deck hard, does not move the ball too much but does have the ability to reverse swing ball. He is also excellent at the death overs which we really need right now. Dhoni has to bring him in so he can get some experience in these conditions. Dhoni said in the press conference that he hasn't lost his pace even after having that ridiculous injury which kept him out for good 2 years, and is looking very sharp in the nets so it is the perfect time to bring him in. He can play the same role that Ishant does in the team which means he can come up as a first change bowler and bowl with pace. Ashwin's form has been terrible as well which is another reason the teams are scoring 280 + every time they play our bowling attack. Nobody is able to take wickets in the middle overs which is crucial for restricting the opponent. Dhoni has to think about bringing Mishra in because we need someone who can give us some wickets in the middle overs. I am not even going to talk about Raina because I don't know what he is still doing in the team.

Could someone shed some light on the achievements of Stuart Binny ?

I cant get over his below-average First Class(54matches, avg35, wkts79) and List A(48matches, avg22, wkts37) !! Don't remember him setting the IPL on fire either ?

Am I missing something ?

Edit: forgot to add. He is 29+ yrs old

What does the management see in Ishant ffs, this is getting ridiculous.
