Because they want things moving which Sachin can provide (and did provide when he came). But what Dravid and Gambhir did was very engrossing. They battled very well and showed lot of discpline.

Who cares? It's about India, not about Sachin. Sachin isn't bigger than the team. You should want India to do well, not just Sachin.

Look, most cricket fans there who are supporting India just want to see Sachin bat. For many of them it is a once in a lifetime oppurtinity. If I were there, I'd admit that I'd want to see Sachin bat even if it meant sacrificing a wicket -- If it was my only oppurtinity in life.

Good fightback by India. The last day looks interesting, the Kiwis need 8 more wickets, we just need to bat the whole day. Oh well, when I will wake up to-morrow three fourths of the game will be finished. (The match starts at 3 am IST)

Don't say look. You're trying to justify it. I will never accept that it is justifiable. We are extremely lucky Dravid's wicket didn't cost us the game, because it very well could have.
India > Sachin. End of.

I love him and all but that's just downright ridiculous for an Indian fan to do.

@ shravi: people like us say it, but a majority of the Indian fans/viewers are still "star oriented". They appreciate a special performance even if it comes in a losing cause. We are getting out of it slowly, but it still exists. There used to be a time when beating Pakistan in a World Cup match was more important than even winning the World Cup. We're really strange species on earth.:D

I know, it's been happening for a long time now and it's about time it stopped. I may have my favorites too. I want certain players to do well but not at the expense of others. For example, I hate Yusuf Pathan but the fact that I don't want him in the team doesn't mean I don't want him to do well. It means that I think he cannot consistently do well. If he does that then I will be more than willing to change my opinion because he has forced me to do so.

I wasn't trying to justify anything TBH. It's just the way I strucutured my post. I was just making a point.

Sachin is OUT!!! Damn, thats a huge boost for NZ. If one more falls in this session, NZ can easily sense an innings win coz we are not going to try and score briskly and the next two batters are friggin' useless (I know Rohit has a crush for Karthik but he hasnt taken his chances whenever he has got them). Hope he can do today, but sorry I back him to fail.

Dinesh Kartik is useless, Wriddhiman Shaha is a far better glovesman and a batsman :) after Dhoni its him who can be called a wkb ;)

You're useless.:p I'm a big Saha fan but he's got nothing on KKD.

I still stand firm and say that Karthik is a better gloveman than Dhoni.

It's going to be tied. India just need to bat out another 12-15 overs, and they'll be completely safe. Gambhir's knock was match tying. Dravid's slow knock was also important. And it was good that Sachin and Laxman could add a few as well.

Gambhir saved the match, but I still think that the Man of the Match award will go to Ryder.

Laxman and Yuvraj Singh are suddenly scoring quick runs. In their 10 overs partnership they scored 66 runs. It's like they want to quickly increase their lead and then let New Zealand bat. But personally I feel it will be too late for that.

Damn! Yuvraj again plays a half-decent knock ensuring his selection in the next test. When will we get rid of him?

Laxman has played a fine innings. Good to see that India managed (will manage) a draw. Two days ago it looked as if we would be facing an innings defeat. :hpraise Gambhir.

Last 10 overs, 83 odd runs at 8.3 runs per over? Had they batted atleast half of this run rate before, people would not have been pushed to sleep.

Superb hundred for Laxman! Another overseas hundred. I think now the intent is to demoralise NZ going into the third test

Make that 8.6. They are really scoring fast. Three fours in the over for Laxman.

100 runs partnership is reached. Yuvraj Singh can reach his century if he tries his best.

Current partnership: 103 runs, 14.2 overs, RR: 7.18
