India tour of South Africa

Agree. But when we tour overseas, batting should be decent too. Atleast batsmen should be capable of getting 30s. Saha is the best wicket keeper in the country but his batting is just not good.
For overseas, we have Karthik and Patel.

If still not them, get Naman Ojha FFS. He is a good batsman and also a really great keeper.

I think saha is a good enough bat for overseas as well as long as he is able to hold his moments of brain freeze where he ends up playing high risk shots too early

I would rather have saha score 20 odd runs and not drop catches, than have someone else score 35 and drop catches at critical junctures of game changing players

With the Kohli captain debate, it comes down to what India have previously learned from Dhoni.

I mean Dhoni became famous for deriving unorthodox fields and strategy leading to wickets or even breaking the flow of the opposition. Whereas, Kohli is very 90's style captain of following the basic methodology and hoping for a wicket through conventional means - with the knowledge that India can more or less chase anything (as they have shown again and again especially at home).

The question becomes that, do you want Kohli to move away from his known strategy of success (which can fail if the batting fails - ala CT17 Final) or try and adopt a more heterodox approach similar to Dhoni to restrict the side and play a more concise approach?

The difference between Dhoni and Kohli is so enormous it can't be put down to such simple terms. Dhoni in his ten years only had Zaheer as a world class bowler and he too was a sitting duck in the death overs. His success otherwise in the field was down to street smart choices and I keep going to that term stability with players. He always gave people a rope to hang on to. Kohli has the best limited overs attack and a seam bowling all rounder to boot which is like water in a desert in Indian cricket.

Kohli's biggest strength as a leader is his own performance which is above and beyond any other batsman in world cricket in limited overs. Tactically I find him very weak but the quality we have now is so superior to world cricket that it covers his errors. Dhoni was also above and beyond as a finisher but he would get the absolute last drop of performance out of good cricketers which led to the force we became in limited overs. He never had a world class bowling line up to aid him in the field.

Mighty crucial innings for Raina and Pandey! So far, both have started off REALLY well. Fingers crossed on them to keep going. This could be the potential answer to India's middle order crisis for the World Cup.

Jinxed him.

Well, hope Dhoni guides the team today.

Well as usual the jinx always falls on me! :( :D

It was still a good innings from Raina! Him and Pandey have somewhat resurrected the innings for India from 45/3. Hope Pandey goes on big from here with good support from Dhoni and Pandya!

Looks like the two blokes we've been begging to make part of our setup have done what's been missing forever. Also, what's with Kohli at 4? He might just destroy himself at this rate.

Actually might not be a bad ploy if its tried occasionally. Having the best batsman at No. 4 can be beneficial if you can have a good pinch hitter in at No. 3 like Suresh Raina. But this should not be a constant thing, and it should be used in rotation only.

Superb innings from Pandey! Shuts his detractors who called him a batsman who is not fit for T20's.

180 a possibility here. Time for Dhoni to bring his bat down on anything and everything. With Pandya still to come, nothing to lose for Dhoni.

A well deserved fifty for Manish Pandey a big fan of the man people will remember him for his knock in IPl 2009 but for me his performance in Ranji trophy final in 2009-10 was absolutely phenomenal nearly won Karnataka the title chasing a tricky total in the 4th innings and top of it took an absolute blinder of a catch as well.
