India tour of South Africa

@zwarrior

What do you think we should do with our middle order?

Rohit
Dhawan
Kohli
Pandey
Dhoni
Jadhav/Raina
Pandya
Bhuvi
Kuldeep
Chahal
Bumrah

The more I see Dhoni, the more I feel he will get the RR down if we put him at #4 and put pressure on Kohli. Pandey plays under all the conditions. He keeps himself busy similar to Kohli and he rotates the strike well. He can run ones and twos and score boundary at appropriate time. Hence I am putting Pandey at #4 and Dhoni at #5. I really feel this could work in England. Would love to hear your opinion too on this.

More or less same with Dhoni #4. And 100% I'm going with Raina at 6. Pandey 5. Pandya 7. The rest of it is same.

Yeah. We need to have one of either Raina or Jadhav in the lineup. Can't have only 5 bowling options that includes Pandya. Yes, he did well today but we all know he is not stable. really excited to see how Raina performs in T20I. If he gets his groove back, it will be the biggest positive for us.

For us to have Raina back he has to really perform well in T20's. I think with him being back we will solve few problems. Also Rahane is a question mark.

Well, for SA, they really need to sort out their lower order., and a spinner. Imran Tahir is too moody, can give 5-40 on one day, and 0-70 on one.

Looks good, but really Dhoni should be promoted to number 4. Yes, he would lower the RR at the start, but once settled, he gets back the vintage Dhoni touch and goes bang bang bang! No. 5 is a position where you need a player to hit some boundaries at the start, while no. 6 and 7 just have to hit out. So no other place than 4 for him.

We won the series, sweet win there since it's our first ODI series win in SA it feels great. Still have lot many issues to deal with especially in our batting lineup but gotta appreciate the way we dominated them in the ODI series and fought well in those three test matches.

Tbf, Kohli should refrain from abusing the opposition. If they are doing the same, they would pay for that. He shouldn't be doing just because they are doing it. Again, Kohli must understand that the oppositions are not ipl teams (with domestic players) who understand what he is yelling in the field. And most of the times, he abuses the oppositions by Hindi words which they don't understand, so no use in doing such things and spoiling his own image.

On topic: Again the spinners have won the game for us. As someone said in this thread, the pitches in SA is looking more like a sub continent pitch that a typical SA pitch. Our middle order should get more chances. If the top order play most of the game without giving much chance to middle order, then they are ought to get rusty. And we can see the sudden collapse even after having some good talents in the middle order. Rahane is a good player at no. 4 and if Dhoni is given that position, Rahane must warm the bench and Pandey/Raina should play at no.5.

A sweet victory there. Can't help but feel frustrated thinking what would have happened had we picked a proper XI in the first two Tests. We do have consolation of the ODI series but as long as we continue to keep making the same mistakes (w.r.t picking the right players), I'm afraid more frustration is on the cards.

On another note, Hardik Pandya had bowling figures of 2-30 in 10 overs  How did that happen?

He has bowled quite well throughout this series. Even in last match he kept it tight.

That's good. I didn't really pay attention to earlier ODIs so this came as a big surprise.

Heaps of praise for VK. Some sections of the media already hailing him as India's greatest captain ever! :lol
