Remarkable stuff by VK but saying greatest EVER ODI player is going too far in my view. However we can easily say Best Batsman of this era across all formats. I know smith has better test record but statistics arent the only guage. What sets VK apart from others is his match winning performances and against all tough teams plus his technique and footwork is magnificent and plays the most risk free cricket than any other batsman at the moment.[DOUBLEPOST=1518820883][/DOUBLEPOST]SA has been plauged by poor batting form and faf being not there has been the major setback for them. I can understand that you are a huge fan of AB but it doesn't snatch the right from anyone that he can't have his own views about fan favorite players. Let me elaborate you further on this matter. Since CT matches, I didn't see the fire in him which he used to have in the shorter formats. I see that he is at the twilight of his career and it's natural that the same energy isn't there. He feels to me lethargic in his batting approach and attitude.

Your comments are like one of those reporters who need to blabber any gibberish to fill the air time. AB's fielding, his batting and commitment are as good as anytime before. He made 200 odd runs on tough surfaces and was fielding like a panther right through the series. Even in these three games he was on point with his attacking game and the only SA batsman who could pick the wristies. His only criticism is that he hasn't kicked on and made some poor choices in terms of shot selection. But to call him lethargic is a question on his commitment and only someone with no respect can utter such nonsense.

This might sound slightly controversial. Although AB is a fantastic batsman, a tremendous sportsman and a great human being, I'm unsure of how to judge his greatness. As is the case with Rohit Sharma, AB looks a million dollar in bilateral series but when it comes to the big games he doesn't quite make the impact. In contrast, the real undisputed greats in ODI cricket like SRT, Dravid (yes Dravid in ODIs), Inzamam, Viv Richards and even someone like Yuvraj were prolific in WCs and CTs. I feel sorry for AB in this regard. He had his one shot at WC glory last time and the rain ruined it for him. AB would've taken the game beyond NZ if rain had't cut it short. Overall, in ODIs, guys like Rohit and AB seem like supermen in bilateral events but dont quite convert the promise in big games. Virat, on the other hand has already established his big game temperament in ICC events. In this era of bi-lateral series unlike the 90s and early 2000s when we had so many multi-lateral events (Sharjah, Titan Cup, World Series Cricket, Natwest etc), one could judge a player's big match temperament through overall career figures because there would be several situations like qualification scenarios, tense tournament finals and so on. That aspect of ODI cricket has died now and bilateral tournaments do not allow us to judge a players big game temperament in any way. A hundred that helps the team qualify for a tri-series final in Australia must surely be valued over a bi-lateral hundred at Rajkot in the 3rd game of the series, although both of them are ODIs, strictly speaking. Plus, so often in bi-lateral series, teams do not field full-strength sides. This wasnt the case in the 90s. SA used to field Donald, Pollock, Kallis, Klusener and Co. playing most ODIs and Pakistan would field the 2 Ws, Shoaib, Zahid, Aaquib, Razzaq and co in ODI tri-series. This is not the case these days. One has to look beyond stats and that is where AB has been a let down.

AB the test batsman however has shown versatility right through his career.

On another note, Kohli and Shastri are making a real mockery of their posts they hold. Just watch the snobbish nature of the replies in the post-series press conference.
