India tour of Zimbabwe(over and can be closed)

Zimbabwe really playing well here. Some good bowling and some very impressive fielding.

India's RR is under 4

Well done Zimbabwe! Crappy batting by India today but credit to Zimbabwean bowlers for tightening the things up. If Sean Ervine and Glenn Querl become available, then the full strength Zimbabwe squad full surely bring in some memories of their team of the late 90s. For the moment, they need to be consistent so as to prove that today's performance was not a mere fluke.

It was a crucial toss for Zimbabwe. Vitori was brilliant up-front, had the batsmen playing and missing. Jarvis was alright but bowled a lot of four balls, plus dismissed Dhawan on a no-ball, which is already costing us. Did get the wicket of Kohli though which was handy. Chatara was rushing the batsmen which is great. Doesn't use his left arm during his action, so could generate some more pace if he corrects his action.

Need to get another wicket soon, to put them back under pressure.

Jadeja's batting was pathetic in the end. Even Vinay Kumar and Shami batted better than him. Good to see Dhawan and Karthik back in the runs in the tough conditions. Dhwan made full use of his luck. This is a good score we were 65-4. In absence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, our bowler needs to take early wickets. Over to the bowlers now.

Can't believe we let them get 294. Jarvis hasn't improved enough to play in the ODI team anymore. We would of been better-off having Chigumbura bowl his full ten overs. :/

Never understood what Zimbabwe were trying to do there. On a flat pitch they decided to not to chase the target? It is also amazing to see how flat this pitch becomes in the second inning of the game.

The ball was doing things when the Indians started batting due to which reason India were 65 for the loss of 4 wickets at one stage...So It was a good decision to let India bat first....Zim too started off pretty well with Vusi Sibanda who played superbly to keep the Current run rate almost equal to the required run rate but Zim were really not in the game when he got out... soon after which even Brendan taylor followed him to the stands...So Indians did well to post 294 as the target thanks to the Dhawan-Karthik partnership and a cameo by Vinay Kumar at the end with 27 runs...Well Zim fought well too and the most important thing was that they batted the full 50 overs but weren't able to even cross 250 because No one played like how sibanda played for them.... So yeah happy that Zimbabwe are maturing greatly and also gave India a short run for their money in this match.....One other mistake Zim did was letting Sean bowl the last over instead of going for Brian Vitori who was bowling and also had 2 overs in his quota I think which cost em 23 runs instead of 9 or 10 runs.... Overall a good game of cricket, hoping that Zimbabwe will perform much better the next match and give a stiff competition for the Indians..

High time Raina is dropped from ODIs.He is taking his place for granted for sometime now.God knows why Vinay Kumar still exists! *facepalm*

Lucky wickets there for Unadkat. And a lucky innings for Dhawan. Showed the huge gap between the teams that they had us for 65-4 and yet they gave up so much that they lost by 58 runs. If this doesn't make India tinker with their combination and give chances to Pujara, Rasool and Mohit Sharma, then I don't know what else will be a better place to test them out.

Drop Vinay and bring in Mohit Sharma. Drop Raina and bring in Pujara. Rest Jadeja and bring in Rasool. Play Pujara and Rayudu at the top of the order.

I second you. Furthermore, Jadeja has not done anything good with the bat so it won't be too bad to try Rasool (don't mistake him as a bowler. He is a batsman who has had a good last season with both bat and ball) out on his place as well and dropping Rayudu at his comfortable #5 or #6 position.

For me this will make the ideal lineup going into the 3rd ODI:

Rohit Sharma
Shikhar Dhawan
Virat Kohli
Cheteshwar Pujara
Dinesh Karthik/Ambati Rayudu
Ambati Rayudu/Dinesh Karthik
Parvez Rasool
Amit Mishra
Mohit Sharma
Shami Ahmad
Jaydev Unadkat

my IX for tomorrows game is;
1 Rohit Sharma
2 Shikhar Dhawan
3 Virat Kohli
4 C Pujara
5 Ambati Rayudu
6 Dinesh Karthick
7 Parvez Rasool
8 Amit Mishra
9 Mohit Sharma
10 Jaydev Unadhkhat
11 Shami Ahmed

You did miss to add the VIP of the team. The young legend :D

Rohit needs to score at least a 80 in order to prove his worth cause its Zimbabwe and the bowling is very mediocre . i'd say rest Dhawan , Jaddu and DROP Vinay. i say drop him . and i'd say pick Che , Mohit and Ajinkya .

In the current situation, it is all possibility that we might see Rasool and Pujara in the team. In that case, one would not want to drop Dhawan who has been in prime form in the absence of regular players. As far as Rohit is concerned, only reason I do not want him out of the team is he has done good in the recent past and he did an excellent job when India toured Zimbabwe for a triangular series that included Srilanka in 2010. Rohit was the 3rd highest run scorer overall and by far the highest run scorer for India on that tour. His record in that series read:

Matches | Innings | Not Outs | Runs | Highest Score | Average | Strike Rate | 50s | 100s 4 | 4 | 1 | 260 | 114 | 86.66 | 91.54 | 0 | 2

Looking by his record in Zimbabwe and his recent record as an opener, I see no reason to drop him from the team for a failure in just 2 matches unless you want to give Ajinkya Rahane some more chances to cement his place in the team.
