Salman Butt is good and damned much better than Farhat IMO. Plus he's always performed pretty well against India.

The man scored a century in the first ODI of the India series. Even though he hasn't done anything since, I think he deserves more chances based on the kind of performances he has provided in both forms of the game.

Farhat had 3 chances in a knock of 63 against Sri Lanka in the 2nd test. If that isn't luck, what is? Salman Butt, on the other hand, has looked much better against the opposition, and I think hes one for the future. The day Farhat isn't lucky, well, who knows what will happen

By the way, who is broadcasting this series? ARY Digital? Dish Network? Sky Sports?

Butt is one of the most talented openers I`ve seen in the recent times.
He is the one for the future.
Farhat is O.K but Butt, I feel is better.

Based on recent performance Farhat deserves a place, but he has never really won Pakistan a game save the Lahore test in 2004 (but even that was due to Gul's amazing bowling). This is why Salman Butt will always be the better long term option because he has shown the capacity to single handedly win Pakistan matches.

Both are excellent players imo. Farhat is, however, the inform lad, and hence must be selected ahead of Butt.

Farhat ha only played 3 ODI matches this year (2006) and has more average then Butt.

That doesn't make sense because obviously if you've palayed 3 good matches your more likely to have a higher average than someone elso who has played 3 good matches but is more experienced. For example if Inzaman and Farhat both came out of the previous three matches with a average of 60 then Farhat's average will be higher because he has played less matches than INZY. The only way you can be fair is if you did statistics on the last three matxhes Butt and Farhat played and make an average out of that.

Something I have always felt about Salman Butt is that he looks incredibly dodgy outside his off-stump.

If the ball is swinging around early on and the bowlers bowl in the right channel I have always felt he is a walking wicket. On a flat pitch with no movement he will more often that not score runs, and look very good doing so because he does play the cover drive very nicely. However when it is a little bit harder to bat, I feel he doesn't always have the mental state to see off that period and put the cover drive away.

Still he is young, and if he improves his concentration and shot selection in that area he will be a good player in years to come.

Yeah Imran Farhat desrves what he is getting at the moment.Salman Butt should also be in the team.

Butt is just out of form and he needs some confidence. Don't know when that actually will happen, but you can see it probably from practice matches if he has got the form back or not.
