Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Ali adds an extra bowling (spin) option in the lineup. Plus Travis Head is less aggressive than Moeen. Why not try De Kock and Patel?

Travis Head is an all-round package. He is a genuine wicket taker. Travis Head batting SR is above 130, but Moeen fails 112.85.

De Kock had gone to the friends wedding and he rested because of tiredness.

Mooen has played very few matches and mostly he would have came with just few balls left. But we can't Travis Head with bowling. He is a part time. Moeen is an all-rounder (bowling all-rounder)

There was nothing wrong with the team chosen by RCB yesterday. It's just that the players didn't perform.

But Moeen Ali bowled 3 overs yesterday and didn't get any wicket. He is still confused about his role in limited overs cricket. He must open with Parthiv. Finisher spot is not for him and the conclusion is RCB is eliminated from VIVO IPL 2018.

Genuine wicket taker? This is coming from an Aussie, head is a part timer. Ali isn't a specialist spinner but he is more of a spinner than Head[DOUBLEPOST=1525772711][/DOUBLEPOST]

Exactly, the pitch was made for bowling. Hyderabad's bowling + the pitch was going to make anything a difficult total to chase

RCB's season was doomed from the day of the auctions! Or let's say before the auctions began-

In my opinion, Southee should only have been our second int. fast bowler. Still in the XI, but second choice. NCN also is a second choice quick. With Bumrah and Bhuvi at other places the focus should have been to get Umesh and then Thampi/Kaul. Okay, once SRH got those two RCB didn't even BID for Cummins/Rabada/Starc. There's a kiwi quick called Lockie Fergusson who they didn't bid for and Plunkett also had been on my list as a potential buy.

It's a delusional captain at the helm with ZERO tactical prowess and even worse MANAGEMENT skills. Why on earth you would you spend close to 10 crore on Parthiv/Manan/QdK/Baz? Does it make any sense to have 4 people doing the same thing when the captain of the team's most successful season of all time came at the top of the order? If he was going to bat 3 then why did they let go off KL? Close to 8 crore for Woakes? It's just one enormous joke!

What in the hell was Ashwin thinking, promoting himself up to No. 3 in the batting order? It should have been known by now that batting gets tougher as the ball gets older. Ashwin is not even a slogger or a big hitter to take advantage of the fresh ball and faster scoring period of Powerplay. The move done by him was purely a lottery and as expected, it failed. And what it did was, it has given Rajasthan a boost and given them belief that they are very much in the game.

Good to see Akshadeep Nath getting a game played for GL last couple of seasons and had a very good Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament playing for UP earlier this year.

He came on #3 for getting Star Plus Nayi Soch Award.

On an sidenote, how many of you watch Cricinfo's "Match Day" videos during this IPL and also the other video features? I have been recently enjoying them a lot, more so for the presence of the likes of Deep Dasgupta, Shaun Tait and the likes. Especially Deep Dasgupta has really impressed me with his insights and extremely clear mode of talk. He doesn't talk unnecessary stuff and is precise to the point and super articulate. I just wish someone like him to take up to the commentary box, in order to improve the quality of Indian commentators, which is already very pathetic for the most part.

I absolutely love the Cricbuzz debrief of games. I ignore GK but Zak, Joy, Bhogle and Doull are brilliant. They speak their mind a lot more on the internet.

Manjerekar, M Karthik and if one Gavaskar wasn't bad enough now there are 2. It's just a SHIT broadcast on Star.

Oh! I should check out Cricbuzz then. I have never been to any site other than Cricinfo, for cricket related stuff. Thanks for that recommendation!

I despise Manjrekar. And the senior Gavaskar used to be tolerable once upon a time, but these days, he has gotten ridiculous. From the overseas guys, I have not liked Brett Lee at all. Michael Clarke is OK. I love Kumar Sangakkara whenever he speaks. Wish I can hear more from him. Haven't heard much of Slater to rate him. Dean Jones is a crack head.

Been watching CB live from day 1(Pre-season stuff). It's much better than Mayanti and co, also I watch Select Dugout for the commentary and it also doesn't show a lot of ads.
