Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Can we really rely on Moeen to consistently deliver for any side after what has transpired in the last 18 months?

As someone who follows England, I've seen Moeen play since the last IPL and I wouldn't want a player that woefully out of form near my side

Both valid points. But the player I'm suggesting him to replace with isn't setting the world on fire either. Drop him in place of Moeen or a wicketkeeper to let ABD do what he is known for.

Morris probably has added a new dimension to RCB bowling even if I say so after just one innings. They look more settled now as long they keep away from Siraj. Umesh is still a wild card though..do not bowl him at death and use him before 10-12 overs.

I just looked at their squad. Completely forgot Dale Steyn played for them even though he was in the side two weeks ago. :lol

With Morris, Udana, Chahal, Sundar and Saini they've five good bowlers. I guess Dube provides a little and can bat at 6. So five batters and WK with two slots for overseas.

I'd like to see Philippe given a chance to open. He faced 5 balls and got dropped. And I'd stick with AB for at least a few more games.

Zampa was in great form in England. Shame to see him be completely unnecessary when they have Sundar and Chahal, maybe if the pitches deteriorate they might want a 3rd spinner.

And isn't there a way for RCB to keep ABD off keeper duties? It's likely affecting his batting.

There's Josh Phillippe who's played two games as keeper but who played out of his natural position of opener for those two games. Would rather give him a go at the top and make him the designated keeper to relieve some pressure off of ABD. RCB already have upto 6 bowling options, if you count Gurkeerat that's 7. Don't see any reason why you should play Moeen for another bowling option when you've got so many options and have ABD keep for so many games at his age.

Only one of Curran or Bravo can play. Neither of them are really good enough with their bowling to be playing together. Anyways seeing the way CSK plays, neither of them gets enough batting time in the middle. So its now time to trust Shardul and Karn/Chawla and Chahar with the bat and sacrifice one of Curran or Bravo. Hazlewood/Ngidi or Tahir should be the fourth overseas player depending on the pitch.
I'd like to see Curran open with a Narine-like role of scoring as many runs in the powerplay as possible. CSK have been lacking strong starts and they've played way too slow for the first 10 overs in recent times. Curran has shown a lot of potential with the bat and ball and i think CSK are not utilizing him to his full potential other than just opening the bowling. Faf can easily move down a position without affecting his batting too much, and can up the ante once he's gets going.

Just saw all of Kohli's innings again. Pure class!

In the history of the IPL, some innings have become the stuff of legends and this will most likely be overlooked in favour of a lot of sparkling innings littered with boundaries and home runs. This will be one of the most unique innings in all editions to date where a batsman struck at 170 with placement, intelligence and pure fitness. 50 odd runs in 1's and 2's is just unreal.

Perhaps, it's the brilliance and excellence of Kohli the batsman that accentuates the agitation in fans for Kohli the captain.

I still don't think Kohli ranks among the top 5 T20 batters in the world because I feel he plays too much % cricket on tracks he can simply tee off (and he can tee off if he likes) but I can't think of a better batsman on a tough track along with Williamson and AB.

Sort of innings that makes you feel you're useless in life. Can't have higher praise.

Stokes must play today if Rajasthan Royals want to make it to top 4. Would be stupid if he gets benched in such stage of the tournament. Even if he hasn't played yet but the poor middle order of Rajasthan makes him an important addition.

Vijay Shsnkar isn't a 5th bowler either.... But Samad was promising with the bat...

Manish Pandey has been really good at no. 3, especially this year when Warner hasn't been able to get off.

Warner did look good today, but went after the wrong bowler

I'm not sure if we saw the same innings, Warner wasn't great but Pandey was not much better either. The number of dot balls he played was very noticeable even on this slow surface. Give the same amount of time to Williamson and I guarantee that he will ensure a performance similar to Kohli yesterday.[DOUBLEPOST=1602416487][/DOUBLEPOST]
Samad was also doing well with the ball. One over and you're sacked. Some quite moron calls happening this year.

He was being utilized as a fifth bowler when I thought he was best used a part-timer. It's not like they're floating Rashid in the batting order and using his hitting abilities either to compensate so this is a very questionable move.

I think Archer bowled wonderfully well until Williamson hit a couple of sixes in his last over. I believe it was more of Williamson's quality then Archer's fault. And this is why someone like Williamson adds value to the side. I was pleased to see the way Garg was hitting the ball with confidence; it was something worth noticing. I have seen probably the best spell of death bowling from Unadkat after a long long time. I think Sunrisers can win if they get RR's top order early.
