Indian Tour of Sri Lanka & Triangular Series, July-August 2010

These pitches are suck a joke, when is Asia going to learn that there's more to making a pitch than just slabbing down a piece of concrete. :sarcasm

That really is a seriously patronising attitude to take. The pitches are flat because the groundsman is lazy, perhaps it is difficult to create a pitch that is safe, financially viable (ie, goes beyond the second day) and has enough juice in it for the bowlers. The soil content is most important for groundsmen and if that does not support exciting, bowler friendly cricket, then there is not too much that can be done. Of course, a groundsman could simply not prepare the pitch, let grass grow to a great height and see what happens, but then that would probably not be safe or give the batsman a single change of playing a delivery delivered at 80mph or higher.

Moreover, the last match heralded a result - clearly the high score from Sri Lanka in the first innings came down to a shocking bowling performance by India's 'bowlers'.

it's pretty hard to judge the pitch when the bowling is so poor.

does anyone seriously think this indian attack would have ran through australia at the MCG or wherever?

In 2008 when India beat England and Australia, that's when the bowling attack peaked. You had Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Amit Mishra and Harbhajan all of whom were in decent form. You also had Sreesanth and RP Singh filling in on the overseas tours, and they did quite well beating England in England, for example. That's what got India to the No.1 position.

Now when you have either of them missing, or in poor form, and given the fact that the bench strength is terrible...it does not bode well.

Come on Srilanka win this win and prove you are good at your home den only

Sanga for a triple and Mahela for a double :happy Now that's gonna seriously grind the toothless Indians :banana2

The toothless Indian's will then score and play for draw with Sachin scoring 100 and dravid scoring a 200 ball 50 :p

Raina scoring maiden test fifty from 20 balls :p

They will surely survive for sure. He will be smashed all round the park and thats a guarantee

How this Indian attack thinks it will get 20 Aussie wickets is beyond me.

Zak will be back

Give this attack a more helpful pitch, and then see. Yeah I agree that they can do better than this on this type of a pitch but when we get help, we definitely look better (eg. how Ishant and Mithun bowled on the third morning in the first test after the rain delay). Now understand why we suck at ODI's and T20's, because ODI's and T20's have batting feast wickets to get the crowd in, and there our bowlers are mauled because they need wickets which have assistance for the bowlers.

I want to see how we do in South Africa, England and Australia. I have a feeling we wont do too badly there unless those countries produce batting roads (which I doubt they will).

:clap Very well said Sai

According to Mendis' coach, his bowling speed has increased once again after the first injury he had and the carrom ball is as effective as it was when he first came into the scene but we'll have to wait and watch how he does.
