Indian Tour of Sri Lanka & Triangular Series, July-August 2010

I'm not gonna lie, I didn't think Raina had the temparement for Test Cricket and he has really shocked me with that 50. I was expecting him to go for a single digit score by getting bogged down by 2 dot balls and trying to hit a big shot.

Then again the pitch is a road.

Pitch a road? :p nice one

i think he has the temperament but not the game. He has played well so far, no doubt. Always thought he had to clean up his defensive shot big time for test cricket. But he has done well so far...hope he gets a ton and leaves Failraj out.

Raina has been a big scorer in domestic cricket. Seems like he has adopted the "throw your sink at it" attitude in T20 and ODI cricket, and it has worked at times for him and at times it didnt. He does have the test match temperament, but the problem with him is his "short ball weakness" and on this pitch he is not going to be tested at it.

Well played Tendya! Go on and break Sehwag's triple hundred record. Being arguably the best batsman of the generation and possibly one of the all time best, you have to score a triple hundred against your name. Lot of time to do that. Disappointed with Dravid, I thought he would play well. Hasnt fired this series. If he ends up like this, time for him to rethink his test career too and leave his place open for the likes of Pujara, etc. Vijay got a good pitch and enhanced his reputation. Still if he cant score a hundred on this pitch, how will he fare on the more livelier ones?

yeah, it's worth remembering gambhir probably made it in to the test side on the back of his t20 and ODI game in which he frequently shuffled right across the wicket to swing wildly across the line for legside runs.

and don't think anyone would have any objections to saying gambhir is one of the best test batsmen under 30 in the world now.

Will Raina do a Ganguly tomorrow (score a century on debut)? Lots of comparisons between Raina and Ganguly (Raina tries to emulate Ganguly in the timing style, both have short ball weakness, Raina is said to inheriting Ganguly's place, etc).

That appears to be a Maharashtra U21 side.

This pitch sucks. Over a 1000 runs scored in 3 days and still not even 10 wickets taken.

Much better performance by NZ. Great to see Williamson getting into his stride. Can't wait to see him play in Sri Lanka.

Real awesome to see Raina do well. I just seem to prefer him over Yuvraj for some reason. This performance might just earn him a few more chances in the Test side. Suppose all we have to do now is see how many runs SRT will clock up in this innings.

Yeah Williamson scored 86 and picked up 3 wickets, nice!

Probably because he doesn't come across as an arrogant snob.

Or maybe because it doesn't look like his diet is comprised entirely of clarified butter.

I don't know why people are so negative about Yuvraj, he did well in tour game and showed signs of come back in first innings of first test. Every batsman goes through bad phase doesn't mean they are over or don't deserve a come back. Yuvi has made India proud many times. He was Significant in Indians win in T20 W cup 2007. I'm a big supporter of him and I'm sure he will Storm his way into the team and all people who criticized him will cheer him when he does well.
