Indian Tour of Sri Lanka & Triangular Series, July-August 2010

What a crap pitch. The curator should be made to dig a hole for himself in this very pitch. This is exactly the source of non-competition that poses a threat to test cricket.

Sachin has never had a runner in a test match. Impressive!

Mike23 added 2 Minutes and 5 Seconds later...

Finally a wicket! Well played Raina.

Too early that wicket! Wish Raina played on. Dhoni and Harbhajan should find this wicket to their liking. Pile it on, boys please!

The bowlers aren't much chop either, I wouldn't totally blame the pitch.

Raina is looking good for 400+ on debut. It should be noted I was about the only person to pick Raina as the most successful batsman of next decade in last years poll.

And to think I was laughed at when I said Hayden was the best opener we had prior to his comeback in 2000.
And I was also laughed at and told I must be from Western Australia when I said Hussey could play.

I may be a lot of things, but I am not stupid, and I am usually right, which is probably why people find me so irritating.

The truth hurts.

Edit...Raina out...it always happens when I toot someone's trumpet...but the fact of the matter is he scored a hundred on test debut, and has all the attributes of a good player...who cares about the short ball, it never stopped Steve Waugh.

Hope your words come true and Raina becomes the most successful batsman even in tests. India would be thrilled if that happens.

Raina did well for his maiden Test ton. Shows real promise for the future. SRT closing in on 200. I'm guessing he'll get there no problem.

This match is just a drag now. It's nothing more than batting practice.

SSC has always been that for ages. I don`t know why they still play test cricket at SSC. I can remember matches where scoring hundreds has been a joke at this ground. Jayawardene has 10 out of his 26 hundreds at SSC.

Congrats Sachin for getting superb 200, coming in position when team was under pressure and we needed someone to bat out the innings and avoid follow on. Well done :clap

also congrats to Randiv, he also got his 200 and on debut too!

Just to score some psychological points, India should look to accelerate now and maybe get a quick lead of 100 or 150 and insert the Lankans into bat again. I know it is`nt going to get you results but who knows. Might just be worth a shot. Rather try to force a result than just sit back and bat for a pointlessly long time.

The lesson to be learned there is not so much that it's a meaningless fact, but that your own survival is in your hands. In his younger days, Waugh would get out to the short ball, because he played the hook shot. As a mature batsman, he was undoubtedly awkward against the same sort of delivery, but rarely did he get out. It certainly wasn't a strength, but it was not his Achilles' heel. Even at his strongest, he wasn't pretty, but prettiness isn't a mark of greatness. An elegant batsman can still be inclined to gamble dangerously on his wicket. However, the ability to adjust, to find a way to survive, be it ugly or not, that is one of the genuine traits of a great player.

Joke of a pitch, really. Yeah, this test will be etched in my memory for a long time courtsey Sachin's double hundred and all, but these type of games pour cold water on the excitement which surrounds a test match.

TenSports should actually stop showing this match and put Pakistan-England on to give ZeeSports something else to show :sarcasm

Ten Sports/Zee Sports would`nt be showing Eng-Pak because it is an English home series and it would be broadcast on Star Cricket. TEN only showed the Aus-Pak series because it was technically Pakistan`s home series.
