Story India's International Season [C2005]

India collapse for 230 all out!

INDIA COLLAPSE TO 230 ALL OUT!

India who were looking very good for a score of 250+ collapsed badly to be all out for a total of 230 which in the end looks above average! The top scorers for India are Yuvraj and Kaif with 69 and 62 respectively. Mahendra Singh Dhoni chipped in with a scintillating innings of 38 to prop up the run rate. First to go was Kaif at 156/3 when he flicked the ball from Streak straight to square leg to be out for 62. He must have been disappointed to have been out in that manner as he was looking good for a big score! It was not a flawless innings as Kaif was dropped twice, once at 46 and once at 59 but it was a very good innings!

Yuvraj was joined in the middle by Dhoni who started off in a shaky manner. He was dropped when he hadnt opened his account by Taibu off the bowling off Mariller. But once he started hitting his shots, it flew off his bat with great power. At the other end, Yuvraj was as fluent as he had ever been with his shots bisecting the field easily. He scored good amount of runs on the off side where the other Indian batsmen failed to reach for!

Dhoni and Yuvraj then stepped up the tempo by the 38th over. Dhoni spanked a six off the bowling off Streak. Yuvraj kept getting those singles and two's while Dhoni cashed in on some loose bowling. He murdered Streak for three consecutive boundaries in a single over thereby demoralising the confidence of Streak

Then India triggered off a collapse on themselves are 6 wickets fell for 28 runs. India in their quest of scoring quick runs and getting to the total of 250+ lost wickets due to foolish batsmenship. First to go was Dhoni who was bowled by a Streak special, a yorker. Yadav came in and scored a boundary and some runs before he was trapped LBW by Hondo. The decision seemed controversial as the ball looked to miss leg stump! Irfan Pathan then flung his bat at a full length ball from Streak and missed it completely to be bowled for 2. Ajit Agarkar who calls himself an all rounder missed a Streak yorker length delivery to be bowled for 0. Harbhajan avoided the hat trick ball (which was also a no ball!) but was bowled by Hondo and then Yuvraj Singh was run out in the end for 69 by some foolish calling by Ashish Nehra

In the end, what looked like a 250+ total ended up on a just above average 230! The batting of the Indian tail left the team stranded before they reached 250! Zimbabwean bowling was nowhere near the class of the other top quality teams but still it was baffling batsmanship! Heath Streak picked up his 5 wicket haul (courtesy the unsolvable bug in C2005 where he bowls more than 10 overs!). Vermulean and Mariller were economical

What streak bowled 15 overs. Why you didnt used gamchanger sais

I used it man! It just doesnt work (or may be I dont know how to use it!).

Can you give me a detailed explanation on how to use it? It frustrates me so much. I mean I could have scored 25-30 more runs if Streak and Vermulean hadnt bowled more than their quota of overs!

Rain disrupts match

Rain disrupts play between India and Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe has proved to be an unpredictable weather country! After reports of no rain before the start of the match, heavy rains have now hit Zimbabwe and has disrupted the match! Irfan Pathan was about to start delivering the first ball before the skies opened and the rain downpoured heavily! We're analysing the situation and will post the updates on the situation as soon as we get it!

1:30pm (Zimbabwe time) : Umpires make an inspection out to the pitch. Lots of soggy areas which needs to be cleaned up! 30 mins more delay! If the match doesnt start by 3pm, play would be abandoned and points would be shared between teams!

Bad news for cricket fans!

2:10pm : More drizzle now on and more bad news for India who are looking for a comprehensive second win of the series. The covers which were off for quite sometime have occupied their place back on the field! Next inspection to be held at 2:40pm by Russell Tiffin and Stebe Bucknor

Match abandoned!

3:00pm : After much inspection and with the consistent drizzle not stopping over the ground, the umpires have decided to call off the game. So the points would be shared between the two teams. India get 2 points and lead at the top of the table. Zimbabwe get 2 points but still languish at the bottom of the table due to their defeat against New Zealand.

SEE YOU IN THE NEXT MATCH WITH NEW ZEALAND VS ZIMBABWE!

New Zealand win by 5 wickets!

New Zealand beat Zimbabwe by 5 wickets!

New Zealand beat Zimbabwe by 5 wickets thereby booking a place in the final of the Videocon Cup Tri series. Zimbabwe who elected to bat first scored 221. Mariller scored a useful 44 for Zimbabwe. For New Zealand, Vettori was the chief wrecker with 3/60 off his 10 overs.

New Zealand started off their chase in sensational fashion, losing two wickets off the very first two balls with Fleming and Vincent getting out in exact carbon copy fashion. Fleming and Vincent were both caught at square leg. But Astle and Styris put hopes to rest with a superb partnerhip. Styris scored a superb century and Astle chipped in with a useful 71 to take it home for New Zealand. For Zimbabwe, Streak and Mariller picked up 2 wickets each but Mpofu and Hondo were more economical!

Man of the match : Scott Styris

Due to a not so engaging and absorbing series going on, I have decided to skip the tests against Zimbabwe and would directly go on to the 7 ODI's against Sri Lanka which should be more exciting!
