India vs New Zealand First Test

Captain Sehwag and Ross Taylor were at the middle and India won the toss and elected to field first. It was a shocking decision as Pitch report by Sunil Gavasker said it was a cement road where no other decision then bat first was an option.

Sehwag said "We are looking to bowl them out for as low as possible, we have a formidable mixture of senior and young fast bowlers who will give their best and thats what we need."

Ross Taylor said "Well we would have definitely batted on this track it wont be supporting the fast bowlers at all and it will be good to give them a good first innings total to chase down and have a handy lead. We are on a verge of changes and hope our players do well. "

Surprising to see Virender Sehwag take the first ball which means he will open the bowling for INDIA.....

It was the first test between India and New Zealand. India are back into cricketing action after 2 months of complete break after Indian Premier League and New Zealand play their first assignment after South African series. Both the team have lost matches in their last series and India are on a 8 match losing streak having lost their Number ONE rankings in test to England.

Previously - Virender Sehwag won the toss and elected to field first.

Ross Taylor & Jesse Ryder provide respectable first innings score

It was a weird start to the test series between India and New Zealand. First Sehwag decided to bowl first on a good batting surface and then he himself opened the innings. With him it was Umesh Yadav who opened from the other end.

After a slow start from McIntosh and Guptill, Umesh Yadav struck twice as first Guptill was Daniel Flynn was caught at slips to Sachin Tendulkar. New Zealand were 2 down for 33 runs before captain Ross Taylor came out to the center.

Tim McIntosh along with skipper Taylor built up a partnership before getting out on 55 to Zaheer Khan. The left arm medium pacer although showed superb control in his 6 overs had to leave the field with some shoulder pain.

Ross Taylor continued his fluent batting and Jesse Ryder complemented him just the way it was needed. Jesse along with Ross added 132 runs to the teams total before Jesse Ryder was bowled leg stump by skipper Virender Sehwag. On one end Taylor continued batting out and on other end Virender Sehwag kept picking up wickets and in the end Kiwi's were bowled out for 340 runs.
