India's tour of Australia - December/January 2015

Rohit I just checked has batted 25 balls and has hit a six ... a fking six, trying to bat out the day, the guy's idea is lets hit a fking six while we are at it !!

Having seen this young side tour since the SA tour last year, I can say that they have improved as a batting side, except for the horrid run after the Lords win in England. Its swing and seam that leads to our undoing generally. We might well go ahead and get worse as this tour progresses but this side is not a pushover as the results would suggest. They will get better with time. Vijay was exceptional today, especially post tea due to which we can end the day with some sense of respectability. I would`ve wanted him to stay through till stumps but looks like the heat got to him. Its a crucial innings for Nohit this. If he can score a 70-odd here, it would have done India`s cause a world of good. Jinks is a shaky starter but once he gets in, he times it really well. I hope he goes on to get a big hundred tomorrow.

If we can fight and get to 450, we may have a match on here. On a side note, if our batsmen can continue this form, we could be a force in the World Cup as well. Also, Vijay with his current form could be a good choice as the third opener for the WC.

India need to bat another 2 sessions tomorrow, one and a half at least. If they end up getting knocked over by the end of session one, then they are going to be chasing the leather for a long while you know.

Looking at the scorecard from 3/137 to 311/4 is a good ... I wouldn't say recovery, but well good consolidation. A rash shot or a good delivery or two at that point could have been changed the course of the day.

Ind did well to get to where they are. More sensible batting tomorrow please.

Would be surprised if Aaron can last much longer in these brutal Gabba conditions after what was witnessed by Haze , Marsh & Starc.

This actually reminds me of how important it is for India to bat on and punish the Aus players in the heat. If Aus field two sessions in the searing heat and then have to bat the last session, they will be too tired, and there could be some easy wickets on offer.

According to the Bupa reports , Marsh can't bowl tommorrow but he might bat. Hazlewooad had cramps in his whole body. Starc too had soreness. Johno was ok with a bit of soreness. So , all of them are semi-broken and this is where Indian Batsmen can look to pile on.

Vijay will most probably be feeling right at home (Chennai) in the hot and humid conditions. Too bad he gifted Lyon his wicket, else a big score was definitely on the cards.

First session tomorrow will be the key to how far we can stretch the first innings score. If Rohit (lol) and Rahane survive, we would be in with a chance for 450ish

Really keen to see how MSD will approach his game. He is coming off an injury, but he was out most consistent batsman in England in trying conditions. Hope to see him carry that form through this series

If Dhoni can take us to 500 quickly that would be great! Also, after the day ended, Rahane said it felt worse than India out there. It was actually pretty bad with the humidity.

There's a really good chance that history could be made by India in this test at the Gabba, but before we talk about that, they need to bowl well first. Then only can we make conclusions. I would also have our bowlers bowl around the wicket to create good rough for Ashwin to throw the ball into for the 2nd innings. They shouldn't over do that though. It looks like the wicket is getting dry and Ashwin could be a handful on day 4 and 5.

I don't think the Indian team will be thinking about 500 just yet. Things can change dramatically if we screw up the morning session. Rohit just doesn't instill that confidence in me that he could survive. And Rahane has been a very scratchy starter as has been visible in the 3 innings so far. So fingers crossed for a "safe" morning session :)
