India's Tour of Sri Lanka

You honestly think Sachin was gonna do much when put under pressure?

He would probably see out Vaas and Kulasekera, and present his wicket to Mendis.

This is all blind prediction. Sachin did pretty well against Mendis in the tests, even though he had a pretty bad series. Regardless, you can't blindly predict that things would be different or the same if India was in its full power (with Sehwag, Ishant, and Sachin). However, you can state that this India side isn't at its full power.

Just a thought, Yuvraj always struggles against quality spinners. So, why not make him open for this one series and let him face the pace bowlers upfront?

Wonderful! I was just about to say that, and I see that you have already said it.

Yuvraj plays pretty well against the fast bowlers (he can hit a guy like Broad for 6 sixes!). Maybe we can make him open with Gambhir and have Badri and Dhoni at No.4 and No.5 to smother the spin of Mendis. The way Yuvraj was beaten by Mendis (why do I always type Mendia?) sent a very strong scare to the other batters, and to the fans alike (in fact, I was so dejected, that I expected Mendis to run through India like he would on a pack of schoolboys)

If he can play those big shots confidently WITH men on the ropes, he can play it with much more confidence in the powerplays.

You are spot on but We have to go on with these types of Arguments.
Try to ignore the person who sound totally Biased. ;)

Definitely Sachin would have made difference here.Because We are talking about the man who has scored 16000 ODIs runs for India.
Even his presence in the team would have given lots of confidence to these new guys.He is thinking man and always back up these young players.

india needs to play badri instead of kohli, badri is a good player of spin and overall a much better batsman than kohli.

Kohli is a better option to open than ruining Badrinath's credibility by putting him there, though.

I don't think Badri's debut will come tonight. Maybe in the 3rd ODI if we get thrashed comprehensively. :p

Seriously, though, we need to think about getting a good start rather than stuffing our heads with M&Ms. They're gonna go for 3-3.5 runs per over regardless of how many wickets they get, so to make a decent total we have to take their pacers out of the equation. Which shouldn't be that hard because they are only decent, not spectacular.

I say get Pee Pee Patel in.

Bit harsh on Kohli, but he did not look good whatsoever. Patel is a decent player of spin bowling too so it shouldn't be a bad bet.

i didn't know the game was tonight, awesome :)

Someone pls tell me why Zak is an automatic selection and why munaf was selected out of nowhere and RP singh was left on the sidelines for no apparent reason whatsoever??

BTW we need SIR aggy back :D

Aggy vs SL

49 wkts in 25 matches at 20.61 NUFF SAID!!

RP Singh is crap. He can't bowl in conditions that don't suit him. Zaheer is our premiere fast .

Don't get me started about Afarkar.

Coming from a karthik fan, believe me that doesnt mean much :P

How is he crap??? For what reason tell me, Munaf played and he didnt?

Munaf bowled well.

RP Singh's stats in the subcontinent speak for themselves.

He only had one good series and a good stint in the T20 world cup (nothing to go by in ODI cricket tbh)

And just because I like a particular player doesn't mean I don't know my cricket. Karthik has class, he may not deliver all the time but he has a lot more potential and a lot more talent then many cricketers. Plus, he's genuinely a nice guy, unlike some people on here it seems.
