After a big struggle we were able to get few min of @Rudolph ,the man who made all this possible. After the success of CSA Youth Series, he is now ready to kick start the Khaya Majola series which is hoped to be a big success too. Lets get some insight about the series and issues surrounding it.


Q: First, congrats on a successful completion of the first season of CSA youth academy series. Apart from few complication, the series was a success. Did you think that it will be successful when you decided to start the league?

Definitely, yes. Cricket South Africa together with the ministry of Sports & Recreation was ordered to develop a league in order to promote cricket in previously disadvantage areas. Transformation in South African Cricket has been going at a snails pace for the past 20 years, we were ordered by President Jacob Zuma to speed up the process...

We developed the concept of extending contracts to would be Cricket Academies Contractors. And boy, were we amazed. All accepted tenders/ Cricket Academies were state of the art. From the coaching staff to the guidance counselors were all highly skilled professionals. The Academies all came to the party, they selected and developed youngsters than previously only managed to see Live Cricket on the Television.

We are proud to say that through the hard work and dedication off all the Academies; 36 x CSA Youth Development Programme players were selected for their respective under 19 Franchises.

We will eagerly monitor their progression during the Khaya Majola under 19 Cricket Tournament; and if we can only get eight of these young players selected for the National under 19 squad, than we can definitely without question say "the CSA Youth Development Programme is a huge success!"

Q: Can you shed some insight about the controversy created before the semi-final? Did your management leave a back gate open?

Definitely No! We knew beforehand the Pitch in question would be a poor pitch. The area received heavy rainfall during the build-up of the match. Ground staff did their absolute best to create the best pitch possible under the circumstances.

Both Academies were informed well in advance that the pitch will be poor. However, none of us expected the pitch to deteriorate that quickly.
Official Announcement - The Groundsman "who's name we are not allowed to mention" has been cleared of all allegations and has been reinstated.

Q: That is good to know that the groundsman has been reinstated? but if as you say both the team was informed and the pitch was designed according to plan, then why did the management suspend the groundsman in the first place?

Allegations like the ones made are extremely serious! The groundsman was merely suspended for the duration of the enquiry, standard procedure in this kind of situation

Q: OK, lets move to the upcoming Khaya Majola series. If you are asked to pick a favorites for this series as a fan, which team would that be?

Tough one! There are no clear favorite, however the Eastern under 19's & Gauteng under 19's has some experienced cricketers. All teams has got talented players, but it take the entire team to perform in order the win the tournament!

Q: Last question for the day. Is there a plan after the Khaya Majola series?

Definitely! Negotiations are currently underway with several National Cricket Unions. Unfortunately we cannot disclose more at the moment. What I can mention is that the current Under 19 T20 World Champions already confirmed their involvement in this upcoming tournament.

Being the head of a management it is not ethical to support or favor one team in a series, keeping this in mind league chairman @Rudolph more or less tried to avoid our question about the favorites in the series but he "seems to think" Easterns under 19's and Gauteng under 19's has some experienced players in the squad, is this an act of picking up favorites? Will this reduce the morale of players and managers in the other team? We will soon find the answer for this from someone in our next edition..

A solid, if unspectacular performance there by Chevrolet Knights under 19's and they will no doubt want to build on the foundation laid today. The bowlers were probably licking their lips when they saw the pitch today - the pitch was very sporting, to say the least. All of the disciplines benefited greatly throughout the day. And so the game draws to a tame conclusion with Chevrolet Warriors under 19's claiming an impressive victory by 5 wickets. A solid, if unspectacular performance there by Chevrolet Warriors under 19's and they will no doubt want to build on the foundation laid today. The bowlers were probably licking their lips when they saw the pitch today - the pitch was very sporting, to say the least. All of the disciplines benefited greatly throughout the day. Gauteng under 19's wins by 36 runs

And so the game draws to a tame conclusion with Gauteng under 19's claiming an impressive victory by 36 runs. A solid, if unspectacular performance there by Gauteng under 19's and they will no doubt want to build on the foundation laid today. The bowlers were probably licking their lips when they saw the pitch today - the pitch was very sporting, to say the least. All of the disciplines benefited greatly throughout the day. These two teams were fairly evenly matched so it was tough to predict the outcome. That being said Gauteng under 19's proved to be the stronger in the end and snatched victory.
