Mafia: Discussion, History and Waiting List Thread

There were days when even 20 members were less and people were wanting to be in. And those games had mind blowing setups. I personally love closed setup games more as it really tests you and makes you think. Open setup has no mystery and it gets boring. I remember only in the 2nd game ever over here, Ollie added a serial killer and everyone were lost about how there were 2 deaths at night. That was fun and it kept getting better and better with new roles and all the mysteries, the later games which followed.

Adding to that, I love how we didn't mostly have to base our games on standard setups from epicmafia/mafiawiki. A closed themed game, standard roles, creativity and mid-game balancing worked its magic.

That being said I'm looking to run a cricket themed game in June.

Well I can't speak for everyone who mods, but I'm certainly not skilled enough to create my own set-up. Hell as you can tell from I'm probably not good enough to even run a closed set-up game since write-ups aren't my thing:p. Might be the same for others.

It's not that difficult at all really, I had my own 20 player setup after playing only 3 games(it was with Treva though, so that probably helped), the only part where I tweaked up was mid-game balancing(due to my inexperience at the time), so you should be okay, just give it a try sometime.

Ooh, yes, been meaning to watch that, maybe this will push me to do it. Maybe it's better if you go before Sulaiman since he's having trouble filling up his game.

Harry Potter mafia has to be the best ever game over here for me. Fantastic setup by The Spin and amazing play by the players. I hate to say but, Abhas was brilliant in that game.

I love closed setup games with a little bit of writeup, makes it quite interesting, and thought provoking.
I agree with most here, the HP mafia was one of the best games here. Apart from the gameplay, it was super interesting because Spin had allowed so much flexibility in the roles, kept everyone guessing even till the last moment.
We need games like that again. Larger games are better, because people can take more risks.

When we're playing 7-9 player games, and starting with a lethal night 0 as well, it leads to a MYLO/LYLO situation very early in the game.
