Most overrated cricketer on the planet...

if that is the case, explain why not many teams have managed to beat India in India in test cricket ?

I think thats a fair comment. India are quite a force at home. But I think that a lot of this is largely due to the fact that the pitches in India are dead tracks with a lot of turn on it. Pitches in India are completely alien to players from the visiting countries, which is why they struggle a lot.

Indian pitches are dry and dusty whereas pitches in england swing alot. None is better than the other. The best players play well everywhere. India have always been awesome at home.

But the team of 2002-2004 was the best indian team iv seen, they began to play well abroad. Suddenly it was no longer a one man show, players like dravid and sehwag came to the fore. Lots of youngsters coming through, pathan was probabily the best young talent to emerge in the world game during that period. Alot like what england are going through today. We went to australia and came close to beating them in the test series, i dont know how many teams in the recent past can claim that.. we again drew against england in the test series in england, and beat them in the one dayers.. then went to pakistan and beat them in tests and one dayers. Thats actually alot better than what england have done of late, because its against the best.

But as things stand england are the second best team around, wev had an awful run of late. Now all i want is for us to focus on just cricket and no controversies and hopefully with the aussies ageing and england getting better, cricket will be alot more competitive.

Sachin is not the greatest player of all time. Jack Hobbs was better. He averaged mid 50s and he mainly played on our poor batting pitches. Bradman was the best ever. Hadlee, Botham, McGrath are ahead of Sachin. Also Imran Khan and Wasim Akram.
hillarious

I'm particularly ****ed off about the media and how they are trying to put words in Ganguly's mouth. He's got a suspension so why should they select him as captain? It makes sense logically that Dravid should be the captain. But the media are trying to make this a big scandal and pretend like the power is shifting. Just get your faces out of it and realize that India didn't really have another choice. Idiots.

And about pitches--pitches all around the world are different. So should we claim that McGrath and Gillespie are average bowlers because the pitches in Australia favor bowlers? No. They are good, as is Tendulkar.

Michael Clarke is easily the most overrated player. He is a fine player but he gets more wraps than he deserves!

Then how come its 7 pages long moron?

Re Clarkie, I'd agree with that.

it sucks because people are putting their hated player as overrated, makes little sense

I dont hate Michael Clarke. I'm just sick of seeing articles, posters and pictures of this guy who is supposed to be some unfulfilled cricket prophet that is meant to be more classical than mark waugh with the aggression of michael slater

what's the trouble if someone's overrated?
nobody overates himself

did clarke say i am next bradman or anything

how is sachin, how is murali, ..... overrated

I'm not saying its Clarke fault hes overrated. Its just that people get ahead of themselves by hyping him up and giving him expectations that he might not be able to fulfill

Irfan is the next akram. I think they are getting to be so similar its not funny. I think it'll more of a story if Irfan becomes the bowler akram was because pakistan wickets are probably a bit more tolerant of pace than indian. Also ifran i think would have grown up in a country where everyone would want to be the next anil kumble or sachin tendulkar - not a fast bowler

Agarkar was once considered as next Kapil Dev, what he become, a dropped player.
a lost dev..... :(

irfan dropped from 5 of 6 recent odis, terribly poor bowling in test series, what's next?

Patience he is only young. You got to remember rookies are terribly inconsistant. He'll out grow it. Look at the likes of Warne, McGrath, Hadlee, Botham and even the great Bradman were all very consistant if not poor at the start of their careers. Its a learning experience. If the players get in his ear and work with him he'll become a fine bowler. Agarkar was not aided through his career. People expected him to be able to bat when he was picked as a bowler. He would go and work on his batting and when he would come back his bowling would fall away. He is sort of a lost sheep
