New Zealand in England May - June 2013

This is a horrible tour for us here in England. I think I'm right in saying that the Twenty20s start at 6am our time, with the Tests starting at 9.30pm or 10pm. I can see me making it only to the lunch break each day.

That's what we have to deal with when we tour you guys and South Africa.

BLACKCAPS Twenty20 squad:

1. Martin Guptill - Auckland Aces
2. Hamish Rutherford - Otago Volts
3. Brendon McCullum (c) - Otago Volts
4. Ross Taylor - Central Stags
5. Grant Elliott - Wellington Firebirds
6. Colin Munro - Auckland Aces
7. James Franklin - Wellington Firebirds
8. Nathan McCullum - Otago Volts
9. Ian Butler - Otago Volts
10. Roneel Hira - Canterbury Wizards
11. Mitchell McClenaghan - Auckland Aces

12. Andrew Ellis - Canterbury Wizards
13. Trent Boult - Northern Knights

BLACKCAPS ODI squad:

1. Martin Guptill - Auckland Aces
2. BJ Watling - Northern Knights
3. Kane Williamson - Northern Knights
4. Ross Taylor - Central Stags
5. Brendon McCullum (c) - Otago Volts
6. Grant Elliott - Wellington Firebirds
7. Colin Munro - Auckland Aces
8. James Franklin - Wellington Firebirds
9. Nathan McCullum - Otago Volts
10. Kyle Mills - Auckland Aces
11. Mitchell McClenaghan - Auckland Aces

12. Andrew Ellis - Canterbury Wizards
13. Trent Boult - Northern Knights

The squads are real, the line-ups are just a punt by me at what they might be though. In both teams I can see them tossing up between Elliott and Ellis, while Butler and Boult is pretty 50 - 50 in the T20I team.

The one player I really want to see in for England is Reece Topley.

Saw some of his bowling in the U19 World Cup, and he just oozed class. He's still young and raw, but if we can manage him well, he could lead our attack for a decade at least. He's quality.

His opening bowling partner for the U19s, Jamie Overton, looked quick (92mph) but erratic, so Duncan Fletcher would have got him straight in.

It's a shame about the weather, because NZ A were in a real good position with the likes of Taylor, Munro, and Ronchi still in the shed (if you're just looking at the scorecard the pitch was pretty green). At the least they're going to play the game again tomorrow for both teams benefit really, instead of cancelling it altogether.

broad hattrick

----------

eng xi 3/186
wright 45
morgan 48*
buttler 56*

nz xi 140
munro 55
broad 3/22
dernbach 3/24
woakes 3/27

death bowling proved a serious problem for the nz team as the english accelerated to a mammoth total. in reply, nz did not exactly crumble, but the top order couldn't get the start that was required and that left the rest looking for about 40 in the last couple, leading to a sudden loss of the last 5 wickets, including a 3-wicket maiden by stuart broad.

Butler looked to have a bit of a shocker, so I guess that puts him on the outer of our proper squad. It's good to see Munro doing good since he's going to be batting at 5/6 in the T20Is, but none of our other batsmen really offered much after a few starts.

I only just found out this tour won't be getting aired on Indian television..... Gutted.

does any body know which indian sports channel is telecasting nz vs eng series?????

Exciting finish to the game. Excellent last two overs from Broad and Dernbach respectively, but the damage had already been done by then. Buttler and Morgan continuing from where they left with the bat yesterday was a pleasing sign as well.

SET Max had the rights which were subsequently sold off to Nimbus. Knowing Nimbus, they would only advertise if there is an Indian element to the same. So tune into their channels on the match day and you would be able to watch the games.
