New Zealand in England May - June 2013

My God. Is this tour still going? 6 months of NZ and then 18 months of Australia...

That's right, the Champions Trophy games against Sri Lanka and South Africa were the only times we will play opposition other than Australia and New Zealand between February 2013 and February 2014!

Anderson getting smashed at the death when's he's hardly ever bowled there before...

Well he came up trumps in the end, but he shouldn't be bowling there.

10 from 5. Blew it like Sunday tbh.
That said NZ played well and chasing 201 was always going to be bloody hard.

Has Bopara ever carried England over the line? Thought he's been in good form of late, but yet doesn't possess that gifted winning mentality..

Yes I have to say we have blown it twice in three days.

However, at half time I never thought we'd get anywhere near 201 so they did well. With the 2nd game being at The Oval as well we should be in for more high scoring on Thursday.

I think this has dogged Bopara's career to this point. Here he is, with all the skills to be a finisher that his team need him to be, and he keeps stumbling at the last hurdle. When he struck form recently, people said that he'd turned a corner and was now ready to become England's premier finisher - doesn't seem like he's over the mental block yet.

Didn't even know it was today. thought it was tomorrow.

Either way my care-o-meter is very close to zero.

They didn't even have odds up for it here yesterday when I checked so I just assumed that it wasn't for another couple of days, but then I got up this morning to see that it was on.

Rankim gettin to 90mph and being regularly above 85mph was quite impressive. He certainly wasn't bowling at those speeds in Ireland colours.

Likewise. I hadn't intended logging on last night, but when I did saw England vs New Zealand and vaguely recalled mention of T20s during the final on Sunday.

Just seems utterly stupid scheduling and so pointless to play a T20 inbetween the ICC Trophy and the Ashes.

England lost it between overs 12 and 15 of their innings when they scored 25/2 off those four overs

It was a good game of cricket though. The Oval was full, and it was a very entertaining game. For that reason I don't mind that they are playing these two games. It's hardly taxing.

You didn't know it was going to be "a good game of cricket" BEFORE they played it, besides with T20 anyone impressed with hit n run cricket and a close game which it should be given the format is not necessarily best opinion to ask from a neutral

International cricket is usually popular in England so hardly a big whoop with selling out the Oval.

And what did we gain from the 1 and a bit T20s? Not an f in lot, a few ?????s in the coffers for the organisers and what we already know, England are inconsistent in shorter formats and not overly consistent overall

Imo T20s just shouldn't be played at the international level, except maybe for the World Cup. Just play them in domestic competitions like the IPL and the Big Bash.

Yes this series was a complete waste of time, but I'm not complaining since we won.

It's funny that NZ play all their big guns in all forms of the game where England's line up will look very different to either Test or ODI teams. Is that:

- a lack of depth in NZ cricket
- necessary 'rotation' due to the minor issue of the Ashes around the corner
- because England view T20 as a very different game and are picking 'specialists'
- or am I just bored?
