M. Crowe: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Eden Park for the first Test Match between New Zealand and Pakistan! The much awaited match is only a few minutes away from starting. The weather he is overcasted and there are chances of rain, but not 100%. But it looks like we will most likely get a full days play today. Now here's Ramiz Raza with the pitch report & the toss.
R. Raza: Hello everyone, and welcome to the start of this test match. The pitch here is excellent for batting. The pitch is hard and the batsman can bat all day on this. Batting first would be the right choice for any team on this pitch. We can expect big totals in this match.
Now it's time for the toss. The coin has been flipped, Inzimam calls tails...and tails it is. Inzi what will you pick?
Inzimam: We would like to bat first Ramiz.
R. Raza: Alright Inzimam, it was expected from the winner of the toss. Looking foward to batting on this pitch?
Inzimam: Yes I am Ramiz, this pitch has everything a batsman could ask for. It should not be that hard to post a good score on this pitch.
R. Raza: I see you have brought back Shoaib Akhtar into action in the first match.
Inzimam: Yeah, we were being a little bit unfair towards him and we have decided to give him another chance.
R. Raza: Thanks Inzi, Stephen a little bit disapointed in losing the toss?
Fleming: Yeah, I am actually. I was hoping to win the toss and bat first but that didn't seem to happen. But we now have to try best to get them out early as possible as it will be easy for them to get a huge score.
R. Raza: You only have 2 main fast bowlers, why so?
Fleming: Well we didn't have much choice. We were thinking of picking Bond but he was injured in practice just two days before we announced the tour. It's no major injury and we expect him to be back for the 2nd test. But for this test we have lots of batsman to help with the score as there is nothing in this pitch for the bowlers.
R. Raza: Alright thanks for your time Fleming. So ladies and gentlemen, Inzimam has won the toss and elected to bat first. Back to you Martin.
M. Crowe: Thanks Ramiz, well guys it looks like Pakistan is batting first. Here are the teams for the match
