New Zealand Tour of India, November 2010/11

The one thing that india didn't want was a wicket where application and patience was going to be the key factor.

India's batsmen, wary of the result and used to scoring at a rate that suits themselves, won't allow themselves to todder along for 300 balls for a 100. NZs batsmen will just get their heads down and last as long as possible.

This reminds me of a test a few years ago when NZ beat england on a dead slow wicket, purely by being more prepared to play patiently. Of course, I don't think NZ will win this match, India have too much on the board and even if NZ were remarkably able to get a first innings lead India's batsmen could still easily bat themselves safe.

Well NZ have been scoring at pretty much three runs an over today, they've applied themselves very well against the spinners plus Zaheer, and have looked to attack the part-timers plus Sreesanth.

Dhoni seems to have been very defensive this whole innings. Most of the time he's only had one or at times no slips in place, and he seems content just to put sweepers out on both sides of the wicket allowing easy rotation of the strike if the balls are slightly off the stumps.

Just got back from the movies and it's great to see the two batsman who were in when I left are still there  I posted on Facebook that Williamson will get a century on debut, and so far he hasn't looked like disappointing.

I guess either the pitch has eased up or Ryder and Kane are batting really well.

They've been very patient. Just defended at the start for ages, then once they got settled they've started playing a few shots. The pitch wasn't that bad to begin with though.

Great century from Ryder! Well played. I can't imagine what would happen if he had played out this over without scoring, since it is the last over of the day.

Williamson to wait until tomorrow for his century. :D

Chewie added 0 Minutes and 43 Seconds later...

A few balls left in the day and Ryder gets out :facepalm

He's reached 1000 test runs in 21 innings though. One of the quickest. Only John Reid, Richardson and Sutcliff have reached that faster than him of the NZers I think.

Harbhajan has been disappointing. I dont think he is anymore the same threat as he was 2-3 years back and soon should be rested from Indian test team.

Very impressive fightback by NZ, quite a few people were telling my NZ would collapse but India's bowling isn't all that crash hot atm. It's good to see Williamson making some runs, he is rewarding the selectors for taking the punt on him despite his age.

I thought that the NZ team sucked. They just proved me wrong.

Well India is a good place for a young batsman to score some runs on debut and gain the confidence of Selector. Williamson is reminding me of Michael Clarke when Clarke scored 150 on debut. I hope that the match will end with a result. Bowling out New Zealand early tomorrow and then scoring quickly in the second innings will be the crucial factor. I am disappointed with Harbhajan's performance.

Indian bowlers tend to bowl a lot better on 4th day. At least that has been the case for last few test matches. Lets hope Zaheer gets a wicket or two in the morning.
