The one thing that india didn't want was a wicket where application and patience was going to be the key factor.
India's batsmen, wary of the result and used to scoring at a rate that suits themselves, won't allow themselves to todder along for 300 balls for a 100. NZs batsmen will just get their heads down and last as long as possible.
This reminds me of a test a few years ago when NZ beat england on a dead slow wicket, purely by being more prepared to play patiently. Of course, I don't think NZ will win this match, India have too much on the board and even if NZ were remarkably able to get a first innings lead India's batsmen could still easily bat themselves safe.
