A good score by New Zealand. Lee was brilliant. I was suprised Australia didn't use a fifth bowler.

End of Day 2 - Kiwis lead by 158 runs

On day 1 Kiwis were bowled out for 343 by the Aussies . How was the hero for the Kiwis while Lee was the here for the Aussies . The Aussies openers needed a good start . Phil Jaques and Matthew Hyaden opened the batting . They both played some sensible cricket . They rotated the strike with ones and twos . While Hayden smashed Franklin for consecutive 3 boundaries . But soon Hayden was caught and bowled by Oram . Aussies lost there first wicket . The captain Ponting came it to bat . But soon Jaques was caught behind by McCullum of Franklin . Jaques departed for 40 of 91 balls . Michael Hussey who was struggling with form came in . He hit Franklin for 4 of his very first ball he faced . And the next ball he was caught behind by McCullum . Yet another failure for hussey who departed for just 4 runs on the board . Michael Clarke and Ricky Ponting some what steadied the innings . Clarke hit Oram for 2 great drives for 4. But soon there was a run out . Clarke was run outed for 21 . Ricky Ponting and his side were in deep trouble as they were 122/4 . Andrew Symonds and Ponting played carefully against Vettori , But soon Ponting got a great ball from Franklin and he edged it back to McCullum . The Aussie captain departed for 41 . It was 153/5 . Adam Gilchrist joined Symonds in the middle . Symonds smashed Vettori for 2 fours in an over . But soon due to misunderstanding he was run out . Symonds departed for a run a ball 13 . Aussies in deep trouble 167/6 . Cameron white came in to bat . Gilchrist and White didn't play the big shots . They were just defending what ever came towards them . Cameron White scored two boundaries on the off side while Gily scored on the leg side . But as they were settling down in the middle and the partnership was becoming dangerous Vettori struck . Adam Gilchrist went over the top for a big one but was caught at square leg by jeetan Patel . Aussies lost their 7th wicket with just 202 runs on the board . Brett lee came in . But he was caught at silly point by Fulton of the first ball . Brett Lee departed for 0 . Vettori was on hatrick . But Johnson placed the hatrick ball very well as he got the single and gave White the strike . And so White bowled by Vettori in the same over . White was really surprised with the bounce and pace on the ball . White departed for 21 . And Aussies were in deep trouble 203 for 9 . Nathan Bracken came in . Bracken was looking really aggressive . He smashed Vettori for four of the first ball of Vettori's next over . But soon Johnson was given lbw by Bucknour . The ball had piched out side the leg stump but Bucknour gave him out . With this Aussies ended their innings 122 runs behind the Kiwis .

How and Taylor came to bat on day 3 . Kiwis were in very comfortable position as they had a massive lead of 158 runs . Lee was to start the proceeding for the Aussies on day 3 . Lee and Johnson both bowled a great line and length . lee was getting a lot of late swing and was very unlucky . While both How and Taylor were unable to read Lee's outswinger . They both got a lots of played and missed . And at this moment they both did the right thing of rotating the strike . And the runs were coming in ones and twos they decided to accelerate a bit . Taylor smashed Bracken of the back three times in the same over . These four were a great pleasure to watch . How to joined the party . He smashed White of the front foot for a huge six over long on . Taylor got a think top edged and flew over third man for a huge six . The runs were coming easily now . Oram and Styris guides the Kiwis to set a huge target

Scott Styris who was struggling with form came in . He desperately wanted some runs . Therefore he was playing really defensively . While How and Styris decided to take the singles instead of taking any risk . But the partnership didn't last long as Jamie How caught at slips by Hayden of White . Another great innings by Jamie How came to an end . He departed for a well played 81 . the crowd again stood up to gave him a standing applause . Kiwis were 212/4 . Jacob Oram came to bat . Oram and Styris both were rotating the strike quiet easily . The lead was increasing as the runs were given away by the Aussies . Styris was getting some form back . The runs wee now easily coming . Aussie skipper was had used his all options . Aussies were just going in the wrong direction by saving the boundaries instead of putting pressure . Australia need 424 runs to win in about 180 overs . It is not at all impossible but was surely gonna be difficult .

Coming Up action from Day 4

Sorry to point out but the title says end of Day 4 bu the update says end of day 3.

Apart from that really good update. The Kiwis are in a really good position. I hope you will be able to go back to '07 soon as your graphics were amazing. Meanwhile you are doing an excellent job during difficult circumstances. Keep it up :)

Australia need 424 runs to win this match which is not at all an impossible task for them. If NZ bowl a good line and length and bowl at perfect areas then Aussies will faces some difficulties to chase this target.

Great update mate.:clap Waiting for your great C07 screens.

With so much of time left, Kiwis should not have declared so soon.. Atleast, they should have batted till lunch on Day 4. Never mind, it's very rare to see the chase of 400+ in tests. So, the game is still looking favourites for Kiwis. :)

Very good going with the story! :clap Keep it up :thumbs

I thought I would venture forth into the Cricket Stories section once again and pick a story at random to post in, I am glad I chose yours. Your writing is very good and a credit to see.

Onto the match. The Kiwi's have declared a tad early in my opiniong and could of batted for another session. Australia have alot to do though as the Kiwi's have some bowlers which could single handly win the game by themselves.

Good luck.

End of Day 4 - Aussis heading towards victory

Jaques gives Aussies the start

At the start of Day 4 Aussies needed 424 runs to win . Jaques and Hayden opened the batting for the Aussies . Bond and Franklin shared the new ball for the Kiwis . Aussies needed to be positive to win this one . Many of the experts criticized Vettori's decision to declare . But the Kiwis stood firm with it . Aussies need a great start while Kiwis needed some early wickets . Jaques and Hyaden first were beaten by Bond and Franklin's deliveries as the ball was having some movement in the air . Ball was bouncing well to the keeper . The runs started flowing from the time when Hayden hit Franklin through the off side for a boundary . Jaques too hooked Bond for a huge six over Mid Wicket . The runs came . They rotated the strike as well as dispatch the loose balls for four . But as they were building on Bond struck . Hyaden edged an outswinging delivery to the keeper and McCullum made no mistake with the catch . hayden departed for 28 and the Aussies were 35/1 . The skipper Ponting came in . Ponting got of the mark with a great pull shot through mid wicket . One of his trade mark shots .

Great innings by Ponting

Jaques and Ponting were putting pressure on the Kiwis by taking ones and twos . Jaques smashed the bowling change Patel for a boundary through the off side . Jaques was looking to go after Patel . The 50 runs partnership came . The most of the runs were in singles . But soon Patel got rid of Jaques . Jaques was plumed lbw and Bucknour had no doubt in his mind and gave him out . Jaques went for 35 as Aussies were 85/2 . 424 was now looking a huge mountain . Hussey who going through his worst ever patch came in . He had to play huge innings if Aussies wanted to go an near the target . Hussey first struggled to read Patel and Vettori . The pitch had deteriorated a lot and had a lot of turn and uneven bounce for the two spinners . Both soon Hussey played his natural game by taking ones and twos . The running between the wicket was great . Ponting too rotated the strike . In no time Ponting reached his 50 with his trade mark pull shot of Oram . The partnership was gathering pace . The runs were coming regularly . About 3 runs were coming in each over . Hussey played two great cover drives of Oram's two consecutive overs for 4 . Hussey was gathering some confidence . They both kept on rotating the strike . No sooner Hussey reached his well played 50 and Ponting went into his 90s . But soon the 94 run partnership was broken by Franklin . Hussey trying th guide the ball towards third man was caught at first slip by Fleming . The crowd gave a standing applause for Hussey as he departed for 52 and Aussies were 179/3 . New man in was Michael Clarke .

Fireworks at the end by Roy

Clarke gave the most of the strike to his skipper Ponting who was in the 90s . The runs were now becoming hard to come as the ball didn't come nicely on the bat . Patel was given the ball and what a bowling change it was . he struck the all important wicket of Ricky Ponting for 97 as Aussies were 201/4 . The crowd stood up and gave him a huge round of applause as he waved his bat to the crowd . Andrew Symonds was in . Jus about hour and a half was left . Symonds and Clarke gave the strike to each other and hit the odd balls for four . The runs started flowing again as Symonds decided to go after vettori . Symonds scored 20 runs of his 1 over . The runs needed for the Aussies was decreasing as Clarke and Symonds rotated the strike . Clarke to joined the party as he dispatched two loose balls bowled by Bond for 4 . With this Australia ended day 4 at 284/4 just 140 runs behind New Zealand's target .

Australia need 140 runs in 90 overs min.

Action of Day 5 coming soon ....

Australia look to be in the drivers seat at this stage but 140 runs required on the final day with 6 wickets left might be difficult if NZ bowl well.

With so much of time left, Kiwis should not have declared so soon.. Atleast, they should have batted till lunch on Day 4.

I thought so that it would happen and it did. :) With plenty of time remaining, we should never take risk and give opponents even a rare chance(of chasing 400+) for utilizing it. Still couple of quick wickets during first few overs of Day 5 will apply pressure on Aussies.

Keep up the great works. :clap:clap:clap

australia should get home comfortably in this match to be honest but the Kiwis have given them a bit of a challenge great pres as usual
