End of Day 5 - New Zealand snatch victory from the Aussies .

Clarke gave a good start on day 5​

Aussies just needed 140 runs in a day and that was not a difficult task for the Aussie batsmen . Michael Clarke was not out on 35 and Andrew Symonds was not out on 25 . Symonds and Clarke were thinking of finishing the match without losing a wicket . They both were positive as they rotated the strike and smashed the odd balls for four . Vettori had used his all options without any good outcome . In no time Michael Clarke reached his well deserved 50 . He soon took the attack to the Kiwis by smashing three boundaries of Bond's over . Symonds too reached his half century with a great cover drive . Aussies were cruising pass the Kiwis . The runs needed were now below 100 . Still then Clarke and Symonds rotated the strike well . Kiwis captain Vettori needed a wicket and it did come . Vettori got rid of Clarke with a great ball . Clarke nicked it behind to McCullum and New Zealand were back . A great partnership was finally broken by the captain . Michael Clarke accepted the applause of the crowd as he went back for a well played 70 runs . Aussies still in control with 360/5 .

Bond celebrates his wickets​

One more wicket here for the Kiwis and they were right back in the game . And it was Kiwis best fast bowler Bond who provided the Kiwis with the all important wicket of the danger man Symonds . Symonds trying the guide towards third man got an edged and it was well held by McCullum . Symonds was very angry with himself . As he departed for a well deserved 68 . Aussies were under some pressure at 372/6 as Cameron White came in . Aussies needed these two batsmen to guide them to victory . But it didn't happen . As Oram got the wicket of Cameron White . White was bowled by Oram for 3 and now Aussies were in some trouble at 379/7. New man in was Brett Lee . He has a reputation of well known sloger and Aussies needed some quick runs to get them out of pressure . Gilly and lee provided the Aussie fans with some entertainment . Gilly smashed Bond for a couple of Boundaries . But Bond came back strongly with his most effective yorkers to get rid of Binga . Brett lee was clean bowled for just 9 and now the total of 424 was looking massive . As Aussies had lost their 8th wicket for 398 .

New Zealand celebrating victory​

Mitchel Johnson was the new man in . He was able to give some strike Gilly . Johnson smashed Oram for a four through the leg side . But in the next over Bond struck again . Johnson went to pull Bond but instead got a thick edged and was caught by Patel at Fine leg . Kiwis celebrated as they were 1 wicket away from victory . Johnson departed for 7 and Aussies were 408/9 . Gilly didn't cross as he was on strike in the next over of Oram . Oram was able to get a maiden out of this over . All the Aussi fan started nail bitting including the skipper Ponting as Bracken faced Bond . The first ball by Bond was short and so Bracken left it alone . Next ball Bracken edged it in the air but through the slips for four . 1 hour remaining Aussies needed 12 runs for victory as Kiwis needed just 1 wicket . Next ball Bracken smashed it over Bond for a four . Wow Bracken was laughing as Gilly congratulated him . Vettori , Fleming had a long discussion with Bond . Next ball was short again and Bracken was able to get some bat on it and it went over the keeper for 4 . Aussies needed just 4 runs and Bracken was getting some really important runs . Bond bowled his 5th ball inswing at hit the pads . All the Kiwi players went up in appeal but Bucknour was unmoved . Bond cant believe it . That was hitting middle and leg he thought . Last ball of the over . Bond charging towards Bracken . Bond bowls a good length ball . Bracken edges it and what a catch by McCullum as he dived to his right . Australia fans and players cant believe it . All the Australian unhappy and there was the Kiwi team celebrating in the center .

New Zealand had won the match by 3 runs . Bond was surely the hero in the second innings as he got 5 wickets . This was a history created by the Kiwis as they celebrated the win . Bracken and Gilly cant believe it to . Aussies were down 1-0 in the 3 match test series .

Nice update...lucky escape for the kiwis there, I though the Aussies had it in the bag with Clarke and Symonds....I like the pic with Bond and another batsman from a different team

That was a narrow encounter there.. Well done Kiwis! :happy 400+ chase was almost got there by Aussies.. but terrific comeback by Kiwis. Tough luck Gilly!

Presentation Ceremony ​

Mark Taylor : Hello and welcome to the presentation ceremony of the 2nd test match of this 3 Mobile Test Series . We all have just witnessed a great entertaining test match . New Zealand have come out as the victorious team and perhaps it was a fair result . First of all i would like to invite the Australian captain Ricky Ponting .
Well Ricky it must be really sad to be on the losing side when you batted really well ?

Ricky Ponting : Yeah it is really disappointing to be on the losing side when we were so close to create history and take a lead . The boys batted really well . we didn't keep wickets in hand and so we lost the game as our wicket fell at regular intervals .

Mark Taylor : The rain saved you in the first test but now New Zealand played really well to win this thriller .

Ricky Ponting : Yeah i admit we were lucky in the first tesr . But in this test they outplayed us in every field . They batted really well on the first day . They bowled well . All credit goes to the Kiwis as they outplayed us . But yeah we batted really well on day 4 and 5 . If we had kept wicket we might have won this . Anyways we now have everything to play for in the final test at Perth .

Now i would like to announce the 3 mobile Man Of The Match. The Man Of The Match is selected by our commentary team and he is none other than Jamie How for his brilliant knocks of 111 in the first innings and 87 in the second . Ladies and gentlemen give a big round of applause for Jamie How .
Congrats Jamie , you played a terrific knock which gave your country the victory.

Jamie How : Thanks Mark , Yeah this has been my favorite innings and an innings i will never forget . We played really well in this test match . The ball was coming on to the bat on day 1 and so it was easy to score . On day 3 there was some uneven bounce and some swing . But concentrated hard and played a good innings which guided by team .

Mark Taylor : How do u feel on scoring your maiden century against Australia in Australia ?

Jamie How : Its always difficult to play in Australia . But its a great feeling to score a century in Australia against Australia and I hope i continue my form .

Mark Taylor : Thanks Jamie and good luck for the 3rd test .
Now the winning captain Daniel Vettori . Daniel congratulation on your victory . This was one of the best entertaining matches you ever have played ?

Daniel Vettori : Yeah , this match was a real thriller . It was very entertaining at the end . Its always a great feeling to take a lead in a 3 match series against the Aussies in Australia as they are the world best side .

Mark Taylor : It was just a great performance by the team wasn't it ?

Daniel Vettori: It was an all round performance by the team . Everyone chipped in and contributed to this victory . And the boys really deserved this win as we played in this test match and we hope to continue the same form in the next test at the WACA .

Press : There would a lot of pressure on Australia when they go out tomorrow to play at Perth?

Ricky Ponting : Not that much . I think New Zealand would have a lot of pressure as it is really hard defending against the Australian and especially at our favorite ground that is Perth .

Press : Do you mean to say that the Daniel Vettori and his boys would be afraid of the Australian and so they would play a defensive game to draw the test ?

Ricky Ponting : Oh , Yeah .

Press : Any changes gonna be made in the side tomorrow ?

Ricky Ponting : No , we have a well balanced team and every one is contributing to the team .

Press : Is this the end of Michael Hussey era ?

Ricky Ponting : No , he is a player of such quality and he is just going through a bad patch . He will again gain his form in the next test probably .
