Draft: Not another T20 Draft!

I'll take Sana Mir in my team.

Back to Australia I go with Karen Rolton. She didn't play a lot of T20s, but the matches that she played, she definitely had an impact. She averaged more than 50 in all three formats of the game, which is very impressive. While she could never replicate her 96* from 53 balls in her very first T20i (and just the second Women's T20i ever played), she was relatively consistent throughout. If she was playing today, I dare say she'd be the holder of more than a few records.

I'm really sorry that I keep missing my picks. I keep thinking "I'm really busy, I should be doing these things", but then getting distracted by things like that list of all the English spinners, or running an England 90s Test

Take your time, barring a massive server malfunction or something, this thread isn't going away anytime soon.

We're just around the halfway point, guys. Ten teams played the T20 World Cup last year, and we're still missing players from 3 teams: Bangladesh :ban: , Sri Lanka :sri: , and Thailand :tha: . Don't underestimate the Thai team. And don't miss out on great players from other teams who are there or thereabouts either.

My next pick Charlotte Edwards

T20 (as per BBL stats)1463,73792*31.670/19
T20i952,60592*32.970/12

A bit of her bio from cricinfo:

"Charlotte Edwards became of the most significant figures of all time during her 20-year international career, for 10 of which she was England captain before it all came to an abrupt end in 2016. Edwards became the youngest woman to have played for England when she made her debut against New Zealand at Guildford as the age of 16 - Holly Colvin later became the youngest, aged 15, in the first Ashes Test in 2005 - and went on to be central to the evolution, or even revolution, of the women's game.

Edwards was anything but out of her depth when she started, and in 1997 smashed 12 centuries, including one off 118 balls against the touring South Africans. The day before her 18th birthday, she scored a then-record ODI score of 173 not out in a World Cup match against Ireland. In 1998-99 she scored her maiden Test hundred against India but, while still scoring runs, she did not score as many runs as had been expected. In 2000, she was sidelined by a serious cruciate ligament injury sustained while playing hockey which caused her to miss almost all of the 2001 season. When she returned, she showed no hint that her talent had been diminished by the lay-off and continued in the same punishing vein.

In 2005 she stepped up from her role as England vice-captain to take full charge of the side when Clare Connor was injured, and was appointed full-time when Connor retired in March 2006. Edwards captained England to a third-place finish in the Quadrangular Series in Chennai in 2007 and a home series loss to New Zealand. But then came the turnaround as England retained the Ashes in Australia, beat New Zealand away and India 4-0 at home. At the start of the World Cup 2009 in Australia, England were favourites for the trophy and Edwards led an inspired team to the title, dropping only one game in the process. Later that same year, they secured the inaugural World T20 title under her leadership.

She was awarded an MBE in June that year for her services to cricket and continued to be at the forefront of the game both in England and globally, taking seats on committees with MCC and ICC. In 2013 she led England to back-to-back Ashes triumphs although the team's record in global tournaments took a hit with a number of near-misses. In 2014 she was part of the group England players to be awarded central contracts by the ECB, another major milestone for the women's game, but team success became harder to find. The Ashes were conceded in 2015 followed by a semi-final exit to Australia at the World T20 in India which would prove her final international appearance."

@mohsin7827 you are next

I'll reiterate my previous comment, just with Ismail as the subject. She's...I think at number 3 in the bowling rankings right now? I saw her for the first time a couple of years ago and I was very impressed. Great bowler.

EDIT: You've got two picks, @Aislabie. If you need to step back from everything for a couple days, let me know.

:nzf: :ar: Amelia Kerr

T20I stats
- 104 runs @ 11.55 (SR: 113.04, best 34*) and 37 wickets @ 19.89 (econ: 5.75, best 3/16) in 35 matches

Amelia Kerr is women's cricket's next great all-rounder. She may not have the T20I stats to back that claim up yet, but to get a sense of her potential remember that she did score 232 not out and took five for 17 in the same one-day international. And she's only just turned 20. The world really is her oyster, even if I am picking her on potential to some extent; she'll bat at seven in a finisher's role, and as a spinner she'll just have to do her thing and spin it hard.

:saf: :bat: Chloe Tryon

T20I stats
- 757 runs @ 20.45 (SR: 139.66, best 43) in 65 matches

Chloe Tryon is nominally an all-rounder, but barring an emergency she won't be bowling in my team. Instead, she's here as a batsman who scores at a strike rate of almost 140 and who hits a six every 16 balls. In a format where having natural six-hitters is not a guarantee, Tryon's presence in my team can only be a strength. She will be batting at six, although if a wicket falls with five or six overs left, then she'll be promoted up the order for it.

:wi: :bwl: Shanel Daley

T20I stats
- 72 wickets @ 15.45 (econ: 4.89, best 5/15) in 68 matches

It's about time I focussed on my team's bowling a little bit, and for my first specialist bowler I'm selecting another spinner. Honestly, there's a chance of me ending up with four or five in my attack. In the case of Shanel Daley, I'm getting a bowler who conceded her runs at under five an over while still picking up plenty of wickets. For whatever reason she's not played a WT20I in six years; perhaps her day-job or some other aspect of her life became the priority, but she's still only 32. Can also bat a bit, but that's not hugely relevant.

1. :ind: :bat: Shafali Verma (hitter)
2. :saf: :bat: Lizelle Lee (hitter)
3. :eng: :wk: Sarah Taylor (accumulator, wicket-keeper)
4. :aus: :ar: Ash Gardner (hitter, sixth bowler)
5.
6. :saf: :bat: Chloe Tryon (hitter)
7. :nzf: :ar: Melie Kerr (finisher, spinner)
8. :wi: :bwl: Shanel Daley (spinner)

@Yash.

Methinks you jumped the gun just slightly, @Aislabie...it was one late pick and one regular pick, with myself to follow. We're actually at #33 in the list, which is myself.

I swear to you this player has yet to be seen with a scowl on her face. I have no idea just what she does, but she's so full of happy energy that it's amazing to see. I have yet to find a picture of her not smiling, or not looking like she's thoroughly enjoying every single thing that she does. And yet she's good.

She began her career in the lower middle order as more of a bowling all-rounder, but one day her coach asked her if she'd like to try opening. And she did quite well at that spot. Unfortunately I don't have room for a top order player, so she ends up slotting into the middle for me, but I'll take it anyday.

My next pick is the eternally-bubbly Sune Luus. One hell of a bowler, and a batter that can both steady the ship or get you runs depending on the situation at the time.

1. Mithali Raj :ind:
2. Stafanie Taylor :wi:
3. Karen Rolton :aus:
4. Dane van Niekerk :saf:
5. Katey Martin :nz:
6. Sune Luus :saf:
7.
8.
9.
10.
11. Megan Schutt :aus:

Now it's @Yash. and I'll say it's fair that the 24 hours gets reset.
