Even the best make the odd mistake. But looking at this season's scores (in the championship) I would have probably said the same.
I wouldn't rate Nasser Hussain anywhere near the best commentators and critics of cricket, as he has continually shown his judgment is pretty biased.

No worries, I just get tired of some Pakistan fans blaming injuries for their series defeat.
That is a ridiculous thing to say. Most comments of how the series result may have been different were made after we watched Asif take a 4-fer on his comeback. The difference he has made by himself makes any sane person wonder how things would've been different if Asif, Akhtar, and Rana Naved were fit for the whole series. Before then we pretty much commented on Pakistan's weaknesses.

If you want to read a thread with ridiculous excuses throughout a whole month or so, you should take a look at this thread:

BTW, Rana Naved was ripping through county lineups before his injury, so the conditions obviously suit him. Add to that the fact that England struggled against him in Pakistan, I'd say he could've been effective in this series.

As for England's injuries, Flintoff didn't exactly rip through Pakistani lineups or score fifties last year against us. Vaughan only got settled once, although he was coming back from an injury. Never actually seen Simon Jones bowling so I can't comment on him. Overall, I'd say we are missing much more than England are at the moment also considering that our only settled opener will sit out the whole tour and we were missing Younis Khan in the first test.

Having said all that, one thing is for sure. Unless one of the Pakistani bowlers pulled an amazing trick out of their sleeves, I don't think Pakistan could've won the Old Trafford test since our batsmen were clueless as to how to face Harmison.

Any news on Hafeez? :p
I haven't heard anything, but I really hope he gets fit overnight. He was looking good out there.

Nervous finish by Yousuf out there today. That last ball by Hoggard was an absolute beauty. With Younis gone, these two need to stay out there for the entire first session tomorrow morning.

P.S: Congratulations to Farhat for his fifty. Highest score by a Pakistani opener this series.

I second Nightpower,

evertonfan 4 of our main XI players were injured or say our main bowlers, Not like England we don't have any good pack up players, and even if we do they don't get a chance.

rana Naved - main bowler
Shoaib - main bower
Malik - Main allrounder player
Asif (1,2,3 test) - main bowler

After the commentators spend what, 30 minutes before the game saying Inzamam made a bad decision. I am glad to see England get bowled out for 180.

I thought it was a good move.

Asif had a great comeback and Gul was good too. :) I think I picked my team right so far.

I thought it was a good decision from the start. There was a lot of cloud cover, which means our fragile openers would've had to face Hoggard and Harmison in swinging conditions. Asif is back, and I'm sure his inclusion had a big impact on Inzi's decision.

How things have changed :) If only Asif was fit for the whole series as he is bowling that good.
Good start by Farhat hes knocked off half of the English runs already. Hopefully Hafeez gets back as hes in good nick.

Yes. I failed to mention how well Farhat played today. He was obviously helped by a bad line and length by Hoggy and Harmy early on, but it has still been a good knock.

BTW aussie, is that pink thing in your sig what I think it is? :p

Yes, that's right, it's a penis. We confirmed that in the Superthread investigation yesterday.

Anyway, moving on to todays cricket. England were nothing short of terrible all day. Didn't bat well and then were awful with the ball. Some bad captaincy aswell at the end. Twenty-three overs at Pakistan and you give Monty 1, this after Harmisson and Hoggard bowled terribly. Not a good day for England, one for the team to put behind them and focus on the 4 days remaining.

Farhat played ok, but I don't think we should go over the top, he got some terrible bowling, and I would still rate him as an average batsmen. However, Hafeez looked good for the short period he was in. The first opener in this series who hasn't looked scared.

I agree with you on Hafeez. He surprised me really. I expected him to be a 4 ball duck for some reason. Hopefully he'll do well in the upcoming ODIs. Farhat looked good against even some of the better deliveries, but you're right, his inning has been nothing more than decent.

If Farhat is always good, why is his average just over 30?

NP, just let him idolise his beloved Farhat; Every person has their favourite cricketer. I expect centuries from Yousef and Inzamam tomorrow, and I have a funny feeling that Farhat will be out on 99. I also think that Inzamam will try to bat for too long, and England will scrape a draw with 2 or 3 wickets left. I expect rain to play a big part in this Test match, thankfully for England.

Well Hafeez deserved his Call-up, he made 180 againest Australia A, thats good enough to be in the NT.

We should only have to bat until drinks after Tea, then Declare, and have 7-8 overs to have a go againest the two openers. 70-75 Overs is enough to get a good lead.
