I think now there should be a poll on who the people think is right...Hair or Pakistan..

Well i will start, Hair was right he stuck by the rules. It doesn't matter if the Pakistani team were two or ten minutes late in coming out, the rules state that if the team doesn't show up then it classed as a forfeit.

This poll wont get very far though as all the Pakistan supporters will say that the team were right in what they did.

The rules actually don't say that. From what Lloyd was saying yesterday, if the team not on the field is not willing to play, then it is a forfeit. But if the team not on the field is willing to play but is delaying it, the amount of time lost is replayed (or maybe its not, but that's a clause) unless he has been notified of a possible forfeiture by the umpires; if they still do not come on field, there is a forfeiture.

No one here knows what happened. No one knows if the umpires went and told the Pakistani camp that they need to get their butts on the field or forfeit the match. No one knows if Hair had any concrete evidence of ball tampering or if he put "2 and 2 together and got 6" as someone said on commentary yesterday.

The ICC will obviously have to back the umpire because they will be otherwise sending out negative signals in terms of the power they command in the organization of cricket. The Pakistan team was right in protecting their honor/respect by protesting what they thought was an unfair decision. It was not only a mark on their character, but also a disadvantage because the ball that was picked didn't swing, seam or spin.

you can see that pakistan would not be happy, because if they aint tampered with the ball the ball has just started reverse swinging and they would of been maybe i repeat MAYBE start taking alot more wickets so in their minds it was not right at all

Agreed, a poll on this issue would serve no purpose other than for a few Pakistan supporters to vent their anger. For now though, i'm with Daryl Hair; He did what he was perfectly entitled to do, and the Pakistan team reacted in an out of order way to it. Whether or not they cheated or not isn't the issue, to protest like they did was just stupid, and they should be responsible enough to accept the punishments for it.

What we did was right, Hair did not tell Inzi what had happened or even why... Thats terrible Umpiring, as the Umpire you must tell what has happened. Inzi getting a 8 Match ban for him not knowing what happened and being correct about the desision is Stupid! For all I care if Inzi goes the whole team should go with him, he is the most respected member of the team for a reason.

Protesting like that is against the rules, and he is right to be punished for it. I don't think that Pakistan cheated at all, but what they did was against the laws of the game and thus, they deserve to be punished.

its really not about forfieting the match here...its about being accused of cheating without any proof! and still they havent provided any proof of whether Pakistan cheated or not..
and Hair just changed the ball in middle of the match w/o informing the captain or anything..it may not be in the rules, but had he handled that situation well like any other umpire we wouldnt have had all this.

And If im correct Pakistan never forfeited..they were gonna come out and play..

The ICC may back the umpire at present but Hair will still have to prove on friday that the decision he made was correct.
Under the rules as they stand there is no compunction for the umpires to tell the fielding captain anything at the time.

Wow, Afridi has just dealt his team a blow as far as this issue is concerned. I have a feeling that we won't be seeing Afridi for a long time.

If this article is original Afridi will surely find no place in the Pakistani squad and good for England as well as they wont have to bowl to him in the comming odis.....

Metro has published a picture this morning which I'll not even bother to post. It is an extremely misleading archive pic and not of the incident in question (since no-one saw it).

I was going to say that picture was pretty damning. Just shows you that you can't trust papers though, always trying to mislead and spin things.

The picture is pretty damning and I'm still not sure whether to post it or not now I know it isn't actually of the incident in question.
